Collect Vertigo’s Dead Drop at the Basilica – Sniper Elite: Resistance

This guide will walk you through the steps to find Vertigo’s Dead Drop in the Basilic in Sniper Elite: Resistance. It covers everything from the initial approach, including navigating the broken bridge and barn area, to scaling the walls (or taking the tunnel), dealing with enemies, and finally reaching the dead drop hidden within the bell tower of the Basilic. Follow these instructions carefully to secure this valuable intel.

How to Collect Vertigo’s Dead Drop at the Basilic

First, head through the bushes until you reach a broken bridge and an old, deserted barn. Inside the barn, grab the crowbar. There’s also a ladder you can climb to get a good view – that’s where you’ll find the sniper positioned on the town wall. Take them out.

Now you have a choice. You can go to the broken bridge and either take the path to the left, which involves climbing the wall, or use the crowbar to open up a tunnel. Both paths lead to the same place, but the wall route has more supplies, though it’s also crawling with more enemies. If you choose the tunnel, you’ll emerge into a courtyard with a gate. Just unlock it, and you’ll find yourself in a stairwell.

Wall Route

Okay, so if you decided to go the wall route: Climb up the ruined building, and watch out for the enemy at the top. Once you’re up, sneak past the jeep (don’t bother messing with it) and go through the door on the other side. Be quiet here, because there’s an enemy on the other side of the gate that we can’t deal with just yet. This path will also bring you to that same stairwell area we talked about earlier.

As you head up the stairs, keep an eye out for a poster on the wall that says “La Resistance.” Grab it – this will unlock the first Propaganda mission, which you can access from the main menu. Go slow and be careful as you go up, there’s a soldier waiting at the top.

Alright, take out the soldier at the top of the stairs, and you’ll get a great view of the courtyard. You’ll see the basilica over to your left – that’s where we’re headed. Up in the bell tower, there’s another sniper. Stay hidden until you hear the bell start to ring. The bell will give a little warning ring first, so use that time to get your aim ready. When the actual ringing starts, it’ll cover the sound of your shot, so take him out from up here.

Once that sniper’s down, you can use your high position to carefully scan the courtyard and the town around it. The enemies below can probably hear you, so time your shots with the bell ringing to stay hidden. Try to pick off as many as you can. Especially, see if you can get the Gestapo guy standing outside the pink building to your right.

How to reach Vertigo’s Dead Drop

So, after you unlock that scaffolding starting point, keep heading north along the wall. You’ll find a house with a soldier and a Gestapo agent guarding it. Take out the Gestapo first, then sneak through the ground floor of the house and come out the back. Climb the stairs and deal with the soldier too. Go through the upper floor of the house, and you’ll find a locked gate. Pick the lock, and you’ll have access to the Rifle Workbench and a ton of supplies.

Once you’re all stocked up and have upgraded your weapons, go back the way you came until you see a vehicle checkpoint next to some scaffolding leading up to the basilica. Climb up the scaffolding and go through the open window into the basilica. Inside the main area, you’ll see a Gestapo agent and a soldier. You can either take them out or try to sneak past them – your call. Once you’re inside, it’s safe to climb down from the scaffolding. Take cover behind the altar. To the left of the Gestapo and the soldier, there’s a door with stairs leading up the bell tower. Climb all the way to the top. This is the sniper’s nest where you took out the sniper earlier. Look on the wall – there’s a strange-looking portrait. Interact with it, and you’ll find Vertigo’s dead drop.
