How to Find and Craft Coarse Thread in RuneScape Dragonwilds
Coarse thread does not drop directly in RuneScape: Dragonwilds. Instead, one must be crafted using Coarse Animal Fur. The easiest way to obtain this fur is to hunt low-level animals located near beginner zones. Kebbits, which can be found just outside the Tutorial Castle, are a reliable source for this fur, hence dropping it frequently. Therefore, these are a perfect resource for some quick farming.
Coarse animal fur is also dropped by many creatures apart from rats, particularly the ones which inhabit Temple Woods. You are probably going to face them anyway during your early quests, so it’s a good idea to stockpile the fur without any hassle. Simply put, any furry animal in the starter areas can yield such materials.
How to Construct a Spinning Wheel
Once you’ve collected enough fur, you’ll need a Spinning Wheel to turn it into thread. To build one, gather the following materials:
- 12 Ash Logs
- 4 Flax
- 2 Stone
Ash Logs and Stones are easy to collect—just chop trees or mine rocks nearby. Flax, however, is slightly harder to find. Travel east of Temple Woods to Bramblemead Valley, where blue-flowered Flax plants grow. Harvest enough and return to your base.
Note: A Spinning Wheel must be placed indoors. So, make sure to construct a simple shelter before placing it.

Once your Spinning Wheel is ready, interact with it and insert the Coarse Animal Fur. You’ll need 3 Fur to produce 1 Coarse Thread. Stock up accordingly before crafting. Coarse Thread is a key component for making various items, such as bows and armor.
