The Chyornaya Peschera Cave Branch is home to a handful of tricky Kerotan frogs and GA-KO ducks. Some are tucked away in dark caves, while others are hidden where sunlight shines through cracks in the ceiling. You will even find a couple during and after The Pain’s boss fight. This guide will walk you through each step by step so you don’t miss any.
Chyornaya Peschera Cave Branch Keratan & GA KO Collectable Locations
The GA-KO is a little doll based on a cartoon duck, usually shown standing proudly. If you unlock the GA-KO camo, it’s covered in colourful smiling duck faces on a white background. It doesn’t really help with camouflage, but it does have one special perk: it lets you hear Kerotans calling out, which makes them easier to find. In the Metal Gear series, GA-KO and Kerotan go hand in hand as mascot counterparts: the duck and the frog. Both are known for their distinct little sounds.
Kerotans, on the other hand, are frog dolls scattered throughout Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. There are 64 of them total, hidden across all the areas in both the Virtuous Mission and Operation Snake Eater. If you manage to hit all of them in one playthrough, you will earn the Kerotan title and unlock Stealth Camouflage for future runs. You can activate them by shooting, using a tranq dart, explosives, a knife or fork, or even just punching and kicking. In the HD Edition, the very first Kerotan you hit also gives you the “Prince Charming” trophy.
1. GA-KO

Head to the archway that leads to the torch. Look up on the right side, near the waterfall you will spot the duck sitting on top of the arch.
2. Kerotan

In the vampire bat room, take the other crawl space. It leads to a chamber with a big hole in the middle. The frog is perched on the rocks right above that hole.
3. Kerotan

This one is in The Pain’s boss arena. Look above the platform where he fights, you will see it in the ceiling hole. You can shoot it before, during, or even after the battle.
4. GA-KO

Once The Pain is defeated, head toward the exit, but take the path on the right. Near the end of that trail, before you go back into the cave, stop and look up. Sunlight shines through a ceiling hole here, and the duck is sitting right in it.
5. Kerotan

Keep moving through the cave until you find a small side opening on the left with claymores inside. Shoot them first to clear the way. Step inside, then turn around and look up. You will see sunlight coming through an opening, with the frog waiting there.
6. GA-KO

Go forward until the path starts sloping down the mountain. You will see a glowing green mushroom nearby. From there, look straight ahead and up into the crack where sunlight filters through. The duck is tucked at the far north end of that crack; it’s a bit tricky to spot at first.
