Avowed The Siege of Paradis Quest Guide

“The Siege of Paradis” marks the climactic final chapter of Avowed’s main storyline. Following the events of “The Heart of the Living Lands,” this quest plunges you back into a transformed Dawnshore, now overrun with colossal roots. You’ll confront not only the zealous Steel Garrotes and their leader, Inquisitor Lodwyn, but also the devastating truth about the Dreamscourge and its connection to the very source of your own divine powers – the god Sapadal. This quest forces you to make difficult choices with lasting consequences for the Living Lands, culminating in a final confrontation that will determine the fate of the region and its people. Prepare for tough battles, complex decisions, and a challenging test of your skills and convictions.

The Siege of Paradis Quest Guide

In Avowed, “The Siege of Paradis” is the last main quest you can tackle right after finishing “The Heart of the Living Lands.” This quest sends you into Dawnshore to battle the Steel Garrotes and face their leader, Inquisitor Lodwyn. Lodwyn’s been trying to wipe out the Dreamscourge throughout the game. Ironically, the source of the plague, and the source of your own Godlike powers, is the same being: Sapadal, the god of the Living Lands. So, you’re caught between a rock and a hard place.

How to Complete the Quest

You step through the portal and find yourself back in Dawnshore, but it’s drastically different – giant roots are tangled everywhere. Chat with your companions to figure out what’s going on. Once you’ve talked things over, head down the hill, following your quest marker.

Speak with the Leaders

When you reach the wooden platform, you’ll meet with the leaders: Ambassador Hylgard, Komendant Mihala, Temerti, and Pere Quilicci. You and your companions fill them in on everything – Sapadal, the Garden, the whole deal. They then drop a bombshell: Inquisitor Lodwyn is also in Dawnshore.

The conversation turns to Lodwyn, and you have some choices. You can either side with the leaders and discuss how to take her down, or you can try to help her. If you choose the latter, your companions and the leaders will object, but you might be able to convince them that being under Aedyr’s control is the best solution. If you can’t persuade them, they’ll still want Lodwyn dead.

Finally, you’ll have to make a big decision: attempt a grefram (a type of magical ritual), fight for the Living Lands, stand with Lodwyn, or go along with what the leaders decide.

Defeating Steel Garrote

After your discussion with the leaders and your crew, it’s time to head to the city. Expect some resistance – you’ll run into several Steel Garrote enemies along the way. Take them out as you progress. You’ll find a lever to open the city gates; pull it and get ready for more fighting inside. Clear out the enemies at the Eastern Gate and then make your way to the Main Plaza, looting as you go. More enemies await you there, and even more when you reach the Administration District. Once you’ve dealt with that last wave, the brambles blocking your path to Inquisitor Lodwyn will vanish.

How to Defeat the Inquisitor Lodwyn

To avoid a fight with Inquisitor Lodwyn, you’ll need to talk her down. This requires a hefty 15 points in either Intellect, Perception, or Resolve. That might be tough with your starting stats, but you can boost them with special items, food, God Totems, and companion buffs. You’ll face four skill checks in a row, needing 12, 13, 14, and finally 15 points in your chosen attribute. If you nail that final check, Lodwyn’s faith in Woedica will crumble, and she’ll just… die.

Unfortunately, there’s no way to peacefully resolve things with Lodwyn. Your choices are basically to break her faith or defeat her in combat. And fair warning, she’s the toughest opponent in the entire game. So, if you can avoid the fight by boosting your stats, it’s definitely worth it. After Lodwyn is dealt with, sit back and watch the ending cutscenes to see how your choices affected the Living Lands and its people.
