In the game Avowed, you will want to find a special stuff called Starmetal to make really strong weapons. This material is hidden in four different areas: Dawnshore, Emerald Stair, Shatterscarp, and Galawain’s Tusks. Each piece is hard to get, and you’ll often have to fight tough enemies. This guide will show you where to find each piece of Starmetal, starting with the one in Dawnshore so that you can get those powerful weapons.
All Starmetal Locations
In Avowed, Starmetal is a rare material used to craft and upgrade powerful weapons, including the Ondra-themed Sword (Meteor Blade) and Arquebus (Moonstrike). There are four pieces of Starmetal scattered across the game’s regions: Dawnshore, Emerald Stair, Shatterscarp, and Galawain’s Tusks. Each piece is located in challenging environments, and collecting them often triggers tough battles, including a fight with Destul in Galawain’s Tusks. Once all pieces are gathered, they can be forged by Forgemaster Dela, the only blacksmith who can work with Starmetal.
Starmetal In Dawnshore

The Dawnshore Starmetal is located right near the gate that connects Dawnshore to Emerald Stair. If you’re already in Dawnshore, the easiest way to start is by fast traveling to the Emerald Stair Gatehouse Beacon. If you’re coming from another region in Avowed, you’ll also end up right at the same spot when you arrive in Dawnshore. If you’re unsure where the Gatehouse is, it’s directly east of the Militia Barracks entrance to Paradis, on the southeast side of the city.
Once you’re by the Gatehouse, look for a small stone archway directly across from it. Walk toward the archway, and you’ll come across a small altar surrounded by Xaurips. You’ll need to take care of the Xaurips before proceeding further. After defeating them, you’ll find a piece of Starmetal resting on the altar. It’s a large, purple chunk with an orange glow, making it easy to spot.
If this is your first time finding Starmetal, discovering this piece will trigger the “Forged of Star-Stuff” quest. Keep in mind that you won’t be able to forge the Starmetal yet if you haven’t progressed to Galawain’s Tusks. That’s where the only blacksmith capable of forging it can be found.
So, if you’re not there yet, don’t waste time looking for a blacksmith to forge the Starmetal. You’ll need to advance further in the game before you can make use of it.
Starmetal In Shatterscarp

The Starmetal in Shatterscarp is located on a small ledge that overlooks the Thirdborn Party Camp. While you can’t climb directly up to the ledge, knowing its general location will help you get there. Start by heading west from the camp along the rocky ridge, then turn north when the ridge changes direction. If you follow this path, you’ll eventually come across a small rock cave that you can enter.
Inside the cave, you’ll find yourself in an abandoned mine with some broken scaffolding. Begin climbing the intact scaffolding as much as you can, and keep an eye out for a ladder. Once you reach the ladder, you’ll be able to jump from the scaffolding to a rocky ridge on the north side of the mine. Follow the ridge along its perimeter until it curves back south and leads you toward the party camp.
When the ridge turns south, you’ll need to jump across a gap between two large rock ridges. After making the jump, continue along the path, and you’ll soon find the Starmetal resting on the edge of the cliff. It’s easy to spot and close enough to reach with a little exploration.
If you’d prefer not to backtrack, you can safely jump down from the ledge to avoid retracing your steps. Alternatively, you could fast-travel and deal with a loading screen to save some time.
Starmetal In Emerald Stair

The Emerald Stair Starmetal can be found just south of the Rolling Crags Party Camp. If you haven’t unlocked the fast travel location for this camp yet, you can start by heading north from Avowed’s Fior mes Ivèrno. Once you reach the Abandoned Farms Beacon, head east, and you’ll soon come across the campsite.
When you arrive at the campsite, go south and jump down a small ridge. After you land, turn around and you’ll spot a circular cave entrance. To find the ridge near the camp, look directly to the left of the building at the southern end of the site. This is the spot where you’ll need to jump down to reach the cave.
Inside the cave, you’ll face several monsters, including an ogre with a boss-level health bar. Once you’ve dealt with the enemies, head to the back of the cave where you’ll find the Starmetal. It’s located near an opening that leads to a small pool of water and a waterfall, making it easy to spot once you’re in the area.
While it’s possible to jump down to this area from the camp, it’s not recommended. Entering from the other side gives you more room to maneuver during the fight, so it’s a safer option overall.
Starmetal In Galawain’s Tusks

The last Starmetal shard is located close to the Ash Forest Beacon in Galawain’s Tusks. If you have not yet found the beacon, the best way to find it is by accepting the bounty on Destul. This will give you a quest marker that points you straight to the Starmetal, making it simpler to find.
After you pick up the Starmetal, be ready for a battle since taking it will cause Destul to spawn. This occurs regardless of whether you’ve accepted the bounty or not, so you might as well take it for the convenience of it and extra rewards. It is advisable that you prepare yourself before taking the fragment.
The Starmetal is easy to spot, it’s located at the bottom of a large crater surrounded by a circle of cracked rock where it impacted. Once you’ve collected this final piece, you’ll have everything you need to forge all the unique Starmetal weapons in the game.
