Avowed Development Time

Obsidian Entertainment’s long-awaited RPG, Avowed, is finally out, concluding a development process that ignited significant interest and speculation. From its initial announcement to its final release, the game’s journey was dominated by wait and a high-profile delay, raising questions regarding its development schedule. This report will examine the documented information regarding Avowed’s development, from its initial announcement through to its ultimate release, highlighting factors that impacted its course.

Development Time of Avowed

Obsidian, the folks who made the old-school RPG Pillars of Eternity, are working on a new game called Avowed. It’s set in the same fantasy world, but it’s going to be a bit different. You’ll be playing an adventurer who has to explore a wild, dangerous place called the Living Lands. There’s this weird plague going around, called the Dreamscourge – basically, a creepy fungus popping up everywhere. It’s causing trouble for all the different groups living there, and it’s your job to figure out what’s really going on and stop it.

Basically, Obsidian is promising that Avowed will let you play your way. You’ll have tons of choices, and those choices will actually matter, changing how the story unfolds. So, if you’re confronted with that strange fungal plague, you could try to eradicate it, or you could figure out how to exploit it against your foes.

Folks were disappointed to hear Avowed delayed since they’re quite anticipating it. But, it’s best delayed, and it will have them a little extra time to work out some kinks in the game. And if you’re already psyched, this means you’ve got some added time to search for the greatest bargains on the game when it’s released.

Obsidian Entertainment’s new action RPG, Avowed, has finally arrived, and it’s generating a lot of excitement. It’s interesting to think back, though, because its road to release wasn’t exactly smooth. We first got a glimpse of it back in July 2020 at the Xbox Games Showcase, and after a fairly long wait, it launched this February 18th, 2025. It’s common to assume a delayed game means the developers were scrambling to finish it at the last minute. But with Avowed, it’s different. It sounds like they actually had the game in a pretty good state, and the delay wasn’t about a frantic rush to the finish line.

Basically, Xbox has so many games coming out around the holidays that they realized things were getting a bit crowded. So, they decided to move Avowed. It wasn’t that the developers at Obsidian were behind schedule. Instead, they wanted to give players a break and avoid overwhelming them with too many games at once. Even though the game was ready enough, Obsidian will still use the extra time to make it even better.
