After completing the “Above and Beyond Repair” quest in The Outer Worlds 2, your adventure continues with a new mission called “Ascent in the Howling Tower.” In this quest, Acquisitions Officer Kaur sends you to investigate Skycutter A102. This guide will walk you through every step, from finding your way into the Skycutter building to earning your rewards at the end.
Ascent in the Howling Tower Quest Guide
Right after finishing the “Above and Beyond Repair” quest, Acquisitions Officer Kaur will give you a mission. You need to head to Skycutter A102, which is located in the northern part of the island. To reach it safely, you need to use the Gas-Energy Deflection Apparatus; it lets you cross the Zyranium-contaminated path to the west. This route leads straight to the Skycutter building.
The Skycutter Building
Once you reach the Skycutter building, go down to the basement first. There, you will find a dead body in the corner, loot it to get the Skycutter Entrance Key, which unlocks the door to the upper areas. Be careful, though; two Raptidon Hunters will attack, so take them out before moving on.
After that, unlock the entrance door using the Entrance Key (or Lockpick 3 if you prefer). Go through the broken window behind the door and head toward the elevator. As you approach, several enemies, two dragoons, two turrets, and two wasps, will activate. Defeat them before you continue exploring.
How to Reach Deck 6
Keep moving forward until you reach the staircase at the end of the Ground Deck. Go up to Deck 2, then climb the yellow ladder nearby to reach the level between Deck 2 and Deck 3. From there, you can use the stairs to get to Deck 3.
On Deck 3, find the ladder on the northwest side and climb up to Deck 4. Then, use the crates and catwalks to move up to Deck 5. From here, run past the elevator and take the stairs leading to Deck 6.
Restarting The Lift
On Deck 6, look for a corpse leaning against the central elevator, loot it to get the Skycutter Lift Override Key. Use this key on the nearby terminal to restart the elevator. It will take about two minutes to power up, and during that time, waves of Raptidons will attack you. Defend yourself until the lift is ready, then ride it up to Deck 7.
When you reach Deck 7, exit through the hallway door and turn left. You will find another corpse there, loot it to get the Control Panel Schematics. Use the nearby Control Panel to send a Power Surge to the Vox Relay, which will weaken its robotic defences. Finally, return to Fairfield and talk to Kaur for a debrief. With the Vox Relay’s defences weakened. As a reward, you will earn 1080 XP, 933 Bits, and Kaur’s Korroder armour.
