The Shimizu Residence in Silent Hill f is full of hidden items, puzzles, and secrets that play a key role in uncovering the story of Hinako and her family. From simple collectibles like antique combs and notes, to complex puzzles like the Scales Puzzle, Ominous Photo Puzzle, and the My Room Puzzle, every item has a purpose. Some collectibles require a certain amount of Faith to pick up, while others unlock important keys or crests needed to progress through the game. This guide covers all collectible locations, including notes, diaries, puzzle items, and upgrades, and also explains how to solve the major puzzles for each ending.
All Shimizu Residence Collectible Locations
As you explore Hinako’s home, you will notice multiple versions of the house, each with its own puzzles and items you need to collect to progress. There are three main puzzles, but you will handle them as you go. Start by exploring carefully, collecting key items like notes, collectibles, and weapons while paying attention to clues, calendars, and letters scattered throughout the rooms.
You will move from the first version of the Shimizu Residence to the second and third, gathering crests, solving small challenges, and picking up weapons and important items along the way, all while navigating the eerie, ever-shifting layout. Eventually, with all the pieces in place, you will be able to solve the main puzzles and fully explore the house, uncovering its secrets step by step.
Some collectibles only show up in New Game+ and New Game+2. Once you leave an area, you won’t be able to go back. Inari-sama doors and boxes can only be opened during New Game+.
Antique Comb


With 300 Faith, just take the first left. You will find it hidden away in a little corner just past the first room on a drawer near some boxes. You will find this Antique Comb in Shimizu Residence I.
Note from Hinako


Go to the dining area of Shimizu Residence I. To get the note from Hinako, go to the the right side of the room, just near the crate of bottles. You will find the note from Hinako, near the black sitting pillow.
Dried Carcass


With 200 Faith, head to the northern room. You will find it resting on a pillow inside near a big vase. You will find this Dried Carcass in Shimizu Residence I. You can use this as an offering in different shrines found all over the home.
Certificate of Full Payment


In Shimizu Residence I, head inside the Tailoring Room. Go near the boxes kept inside the room. You will find the Certificate of Full Payment, on a table on the right side of the room.
Calendar


I Shimizu Residence I, go to the end of the corridor. There you will find a pile of boxes. Search carefully at the the boxes. You will find the calender above one of the boxes. This calender will help you to reach the Shimizu Residence II.
Dried Carcass


With 200 Faith, once you use the Calendar to reach the second area, go into the first room on your left. You will spot it sitting on a crate. You will find this Dried Carcass in Shimizu Residence II. You can use this as an offering in different shrines found all over the home.
Character Upgrade


Walk south down the hallway into the next room, and you will find it in the middle of the two vases. You will find this Character Upgrade in Shimizu Residence II. You can use this to upgrade Hinako’s ability in Hokaro.
Yellowed Calendar


Go inside the dining room, Shimizu Residence II, you will find the Yellowed Calendar on the dining table. This yellow calender will help you to go to the Shimizu Residence III.
Hinako’s Diary


Go inside the Hinako’s study room to find Hinako’s Diary on the study table. The Diary tells the hatred towards Hinako’s parents as she wants them to kill themselves and leave the house.
Shriveled Abura-Age


With 500 Faith, once you use the Calendar to reach the third area, follow the eastern path. Inside the room, you will find it sitting on a shelf in the corner. With 500 Faith, head down the eastern hallway. You will find it right next to an enemy.
Scales Puzzle

You will find the Scales Puzzle in Shimizu Residence II, hidden away in the upper-left corner of the area. To reach it, walk down the hallway near the sewing machine room and look for a half-open door at the end, that’s where the puzzle is.
Solving this puzzle gives you the Scales Plate, which you will need later for the My Room Puzzle. The other two plates can also be found somewhere else inside Shimizu Residence.
Here’s how the puzzle works:
- You will see two platforms, each with a fox statue and a rabbit statue.
- Your goal is to rotate the statues so that all the cages are level.
- Once they’re aligned, take the lantern shades from the cages.
- Place the lantern shades on the lights, and this will unlock the key.
Here’s how to place the dolls for each ending.
Ending 1:
- Put the Headless Doll on the left.
- Place all the other dolls on the right.
Ending 2:
- Put the Headless Doll and the Half Mask Doll on the left.
- The rest go on the right.
Ending 3:
- Put the Hinako Doll in the blue shirt and the Half Mask Doll on the left.
- The rest go on the right.
Ending 4:
- Put only the Hinako Doll in the blue shirt on the left.
- All other dolls go on the right.

Picture Frame


Go towards the storage room in Shimizu Residence II, you will find the picture frame of Hinako on the table. This picture frame is an key item to be used in solving the Ominous Photo Puzzle.
Errand Request


In Shimizu Residence III, move towards the hallway of the home. At the end of the hallway, you will find the Errand Request on a table near the flower vase. The request askes you to go Shu’s house and buy the stomach ache medicine for Hinako’s mother.
Shriveled Abura-Age


Go to the room at the left side corner of the Shimizu Residence III, you will find theShriveled Abura-Age on a table near the table fan. You will need 500 faith to collect it.
Fragrant Letter


Go inside Hinako’s room in Shimizu Residence III. You will find the Fragrant Letter on the bottom drawer inside the room.
Block of Wax


Go inside Hinako’s room in Shimizu Residence III. You will find the Block of Wax in side her diary in the right side of the room on a cupboard.
Dried Carcass


With 200 Faith, go to the third room up north and check the chest of drawers you will find it there. You will find this Dried Carcass in Shimizu Residence III. You can use this as an offering in different shrines found all over the home.
Character Upgrade


In the northwest corner of the hallway, look behind the watering can to find it. You will find this Character Upgrade in Shimizu Residence III. You can use this to upgrade Hinako’s ability in Hokaro.
Inventory Upgrade


To get the Furoshiki inventory upgrade, head to the kitchen in the southwest. It’s on your right as soon as you walk in.
Propane Tube


Go inside the kitchen room in Shimizu Residence III. You will find the Propane Tube on the kitchen table. After looking at the Propane Tube, you will be able to see that this is used to connect the stoves. It looks old but can again be used again.
Ominous Photo Puzzle

You will find the Ominous Photo Puzzle in Shimizu Residence I. To get there, go through the middle part of the floor until you reach a locked room filled with hanging photos of people close to Hinako.
In this puzzle is you need to change the angle of the picture frames. When you adjust them the right way, a large blurry photo in the center will shift, revealing two hidden symbols, the White Bird Crest and the Fox Crest. How you arrange the photos depends on which ending you’re going for.
- Photos that are upright show the people Hinako cares about.
- Photos that are upside down show the people she wants to forget, and that can even include herself.
Here’s how to solve the puzzle for each ending:
Ending 1:
- Put Hinako’s photo in the empty spot.
- Flip Hinako’s photo upside down, but keep all the others upright.
Ending 2:
- Put Hinako’s photo in the empty spot.
- Keep Hinako and her parents’ photos upright.
- Flip all her friends’ photos upside down.
Ending 3:
- Put Hinako’s photo in the empty spot.
- Keep Hinako, Shu, and Sakuko’s photos upright.
- Flip her parents’ and Rinko’s photos upside down.
Ending 4:
- Put Hinako’s photo in the empty spot.
- Keep only Hinako’s photo upright.
- Flip everyone else’s photo upside down.

Omamori 12/17 = Cuckoo



Completing the Ominous Photo Puzzle triggers a hidden room. Pass the Calendar doors in the third section and Hokora Shrine to reach a desk holding the Omamori.
Fletching Key


To get the fletching key, you need to use the propane tube to connect it to the stove and melt the block of wax. After examining the key, you will notice that it has a bird patten on the back.
Black Bird and Sword Plate


In the dining room in Shimizu Residence III, you will find the Black Bird and Sword Plate on the dining table. You will need both these items to complete the my room puzzle in Shimizu Residence I.
My Room Puzzle

In Shimizu Residence I, you will find the My Room Puzzle, but you can’t solve it right away. First, you need to complete the other puzzles in the area. The solution changes depending on which ending you’re aiming for, but don’t worry, the locations of the crests never change, no matter the difficulty.
Here’s where to find each crest:
- Scales Crest: Complete the Scales Puzzle in Shimizu Residence II. Go to the upper-left side and look for a half-open door. Solve the puzzle inside, and a drawer will open to reveal the crest.
- White Bird and Fox Crest: Get this from the Ominous Photo Puzzle in Shimizu Residence I. Once solved, check behind the large picture frame to grab the crest.
- Black Bird and Sword Crest: Located in Shimizu Residence III, inside the room that needs the Fletching Key. Enter the room, watch a short cutscene with Hinako’s parents, then claim the crest.
After collecting all three crests, return to the first area and place them on the plaque outside Hinako’s room. Here’s how to place them for each ending.
Ending 1:
- Sword Crest: Left
- Fox Crest: Right
- Heavens Crest: Top
- Scales Crest: Flip upside down, leave bottom slot empty
Ending 2:
- Scales Crest: Left
- Black Bird Crest: Right (flip Sword Crest with the square button)
- Fox Crest: Top
- Heavens Crest: Flip with square button, leave bottom slot empty
Ending 3:
- White Bird Crest: Left
- Fox Crest: Flip with square button before placing
- Scales Crest: Right
- Sword Crest: Top
- Heavens Crest: Flip before placing; bottom slot empty
Ending 4:
- White Bird Crest: Left (flip Fox Crest first)
- Black Bird Crest: Right (flip Sword Crest first)
- Scales Crest: Top (flip before placing)

Pine Tree Emblem


Go inside Hinako’s room in Shimizu Residence I. On the table you will find the Pine Tree Emblem and a cutscene will appear. After examining the Pine Tree Emblem you will notice that it is a wooden badge with a Pine Tree design.
Antique Comb

You will find this Antique Comb in the Shimizu Residence III. With 300 Faith, once you open the red door using the Pine Tree Emblem, you will find it right next to the Hokora Shrine.
Just Shut Up for Once, Dad! Achievement

In the next fight, you will face two bosses at the same time. Focus on the giant boss with the blade first and ignore the smaller one until the big boss is defeated.
