At Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, there is a side quest involving Hexga, a depressed Nevron that can be found at Stone Wave Cliffs. This guide will explain how to find Hexga, locate the three Rock Crystals it asks for, and finally face the formidable boss in a tough but rewarding fight.
Finding Hexga at Stone Wave Cliffs
As you wander through the Stone Wave Cliffs area in the course of the main quest, you can encounter a sad Nevron named Hexga who requests assistance in finding three shining Rock Crystals hidden in a nearby cavern.
If you didn’t meet Hexga when you first visited, you can still find it later. Teleport to the Tide Caverns Rest Point, leave the cave, and you will see Hexga at the entrance.
Rock Crystal Locations
Rock Crystal Location 1
After speaking with the Hexga, proceed through the adjacent opening to find the Tide Caverns Expedition Flag on Stone Wave Cliffs. Then, swing over to the other side and use the zipline at the trail’s end to slide down to the lower area.
After you’ve descended to the bottom floor via the zipline, take the path to the extreme left and climb the slope. You’ll see a glowing crystal in the corner—destroy it and pick up the Rock Crystal. Be careful because there are enemies around you.
Rock Crystal Location 2
After picking up the first Rock Crystal, face to the right and proceed towards the half-submerged structure. Before going into the water, turn around and go right again, climbing up the slope that is nearby.
Circle around the top of the rock structure to get the second Rock Crystal. Shatter it and collect the object which appears.
Rock Crystal Location 3
With the second Rock Crystal, turn left and fall down the ledge. Go towards the zipline close by, but do not use it.
When you are close to the zipline, a glowing crystal will emerge from the ground nearby. Engage with it to initiate the Rocher boss fight. Defeat Rocher to receive the third Rock Crystal as a drop reward!
Returning to Hexga
Once you’ve gathered all three Rock Crystals, head back to Hexga in Stone Wave Cliffs. You’ll find Hexga standing on a cliff that overlooks the Old Farm.
How to Defeat Hexga
Before challenging Hexga, be aware that the boss has a powerful move that cannot be dodged or countered unless you’ve unlocked a specific dodge skill. While it’s possible to defeat Hexga without this ability, the fight will be tough due to the boss’s high health and powerful attacks. Avoid using Fire-based abilities, as Hexga is resistant to them. Instead, bring party members who specialize in Ice damage, which Hexga is especially vulnerable to.
Having characters that can dish out 9,999 damage can also improve your chances significantly. Hexga has a predictable pattern of attacks that are easy to anticipate and counter for—you just need to be careful because any successful hits will deal significant damage. Hexga also triggers a shield a lot of the time. If you don’t shut it off in time, the boss will use a heavy, unavoidable hit.
Defeating Hexga in Expedition 33 rewards you with the following:
