If you’re completing the Volatile Flintbeetles Wish quest in Hollow Knight: Silksong, you’ll need to hunt down three of these explosive bugs hidden around the Marrow. They’re not the easiest enemies to deal with, but with a bit of preparation and patience, you’ll be able to track them, beat them, and claim a useful reward. This guide will walk you through where to find all three Flintbeetles, what to watch out for in their attacks, and how to finish the quest.

Go to Bone Bottom village’s Wish Board and accept it there to begin the Volatile Flintbeetle quest. The task is straightforward: locate and eliminate three of these harmful bugs that are dispersed throughout the marrow. Return to the Wish Board to retrieve your prize, a Memory Locket, after you have removed all three and collected their drops. You may increase your Charm slots with these lockets, which makes them quite useful. You can immediately unlock one of your vacant spots by just sitting on a bench.

To hunt down the Volatile Flintbeetles, you’ll need to follow their droppings scattered around the Marrow. Each time you interact with one, it’ll guide you along the trail that eventually leads straight to the beetle. Their spots don’t change, so once you know where they are, you can always come back. Just be careful these things hit hard and can take you by surprise if you’re not ready.
When you fight them, keep an eye on their attacks. Their charge attack leaves behind an explosive trail, so don’t try to roll in behind them you’ll just end up getting hit by the blast. Sometimes they leap into the air and fling explosives in an arc. The safest move here is to stay calm, stand still, and slide into the little safe space underneath the arc, or just step back out of range.
They also have a move where they stop in place and fire off a shower of lava bullets, usually four to six at a time, spreading out on both sides. You can dodge these if your reflexes are sharp, but the easy way is simply to step back and wait it out. One last thing when they die, they explode, so don’t stick too close if your health is low.

The first Volatile Flintbeetle is pretty easy to track down. From the very first bench in the Marrow, look for its droppings and interact with them. They’ll lead you back to the previous chamber, just above and to the left. Check the ceiling and you’ll spot the beetle stuck there hit it to start the fight.

The second Volatile Flintbeetle is present in a wall over on the right side of the Marrow. Keep your eyes opened and you’ll spot it waiting for you there.

The third one is in the same general room. Before you trigger the fight, it’s a good idea to clear out the other enemies first. Otherwise, they’ll just keep bothering you while you’re trying to dodge and heal.
