Looking to unlock the Rare Specimen Rescuer trophy in Death Stranding 2? This quick guide covers how to find and capture the elusive albino kangaroo—one of the game’s rarest animals. From when they spawn to where to look and how to transport them safely, here’s everything you need to know to complete this wildlife mission.
Why Rescue Albino Animals?
In Death Stranding 2, rescuing wildlife isn’t just about doing a good deed—it helps you rack up likes from the Animal Sanctuary and adds to your overall progress. Some animals are more unique than others, and if you’re lucky enough to come across an albino variant, you’ll earn the “Rare Specimen Rescuer” trophy and get a rare creature added to your collection.
When Do Animals Start Appearing?
Animals begin spawning across the Australian landscape after you complete Order No. 15. From that point onward, you’ll start encountering more wildlife as you explore. However, albino animals don’t show up right away—they only become available once you make some additional progress in the story.
Unlocking Albino Spawns
To start finding albino species, you’ll need to establish a connection with the Pioneer via the Chiral Network. This happens sometime after Order No. 28, but the Pioneer won’t link up until you return some lost cargo found near The Motherhood area. Once he’s on your side, he’ll occasionally update the Aid Requests with the whereabouts of rare albino animals.
Which Albino Animals Can You Find?
There are three albino creatures players can encounter:
- Albino Kangaroo
- Albino Lyrebird
- Albino Echidna
Among these, the albino kangaroo is the easiest to find—and you can even encounter it before connecting to the Pioneer.
Where to Find the Albino Kangaroo
If you’re after the kangaroo, head to the desert north of Heartman’s Lab, close to where the Data Scientist is located. The creature stands out thanks to its striking white fur against the red desert terrain, making it hard to miss.
How to Capture and Deliver It
Once you spot the kangaroo, there are two ways to secure it:
- Use rubber bullets to stun it
- Or chase it down on foot
After catching it, pack it up and deliver it to the Animal Sanctuary. Since it’s a long journey, building roads and bringing a vehicle will make the trip much smoother. Once delivered, the Rare Specimen Rescuer trophy will automatically unlock.
