If you’re within the Thieves Guild questline in Oblivion Remastered, “Ahdarji’s Heirloom” is one of the starting quests you will have. Within this guide, we’ll guide you through the entire quest in detail, from the way to start it to how to steal the ring and finish the quest.
How to Start the Ahdarji’s Heirloom Quest
Before you can start the “Ahdarji’s Heirloom” quest, you’ll have to have at least 200 gold value of stolen merchandise. After that, go visit S’Krivva in her home in Bravil. She’s your supervisor in the Thieves Guild. Approach her and select the “Special Thieves Guild Jobs” option.
The first of the special jobs she’ll offer you is “Ahdarji’s Heirloom.” After you’ve taken it, your next move is to find Ahdarji in Leyawiin. She’ll be at the Five Claws Lodge in the middle of the day and the Three Sisters’ Inn in the evening. Talk to her to begin the quest, which will involve questioning an Argonian to get the information you need.
Questioning the Prisoner
After you talk to Ahdarji, she’ll tell you that the thief who stole her ring, a guy named Amusei, is locked up in the Leyawiin Castle prison. To find him, just make your way through the castle and into the prison area. There, you will meet a guard whom you can bribe for 20 gold to get permission to speak with Amusei.
When you talk to Amusei, he will offer to tell you about the ring, but only if you give him a lockpick to help him escape. Even though Ahdarji asks you to kill Amusei, you actually shouldn’t harm him, because he’s important for a future Thieves Guild quest.
How to Steal the Ring
After you tell Ahdarji what you learned from Amusei, she’ll promise to double your reward for getting the ring back. First, find a beggar in Leyawiin. If you bribe them, they’ll give you some info about a hidden torture chamber under Leyawiin Castle, used for imprisoning Argonians. After learning that, head into the castle and track down Hlidara Mothril, the Countess’ personal assistant. Use the Persuasion Wheel to boost her Disposition to 70. Once she’s feeling friendly, ask her about the castle’s dark secrets and the Caro family ring.
Hlidara will tell you that the Countess locks the ring away in a lockbox inside her private bed chambers and that you can get there through the secret torture chamber.
Here’s how to get the ring:
- Wait until 1 AM (but not on the 15th, 16th, or 17th of the month).
- At 1 AM, sneak into the Castle Leyawiin Basement.
- Look for a barrel with a hidden lever next to it pull it to open a secret passage.
- Go through the torture chamber, find another hidden lever, and open the door to the private chambers.

At this point, you’ll need to be in complete stealth. Once you’re inside the bed chambers, turn left and you’ll find the Count and Countess sleeping. Look to the right of the bed for a lockbox; that’s where the ring is. If you’re having trouble picking the lock, you can also pickpocket the key from the Count or Countess just make sure you save your game first.
After getting the ring, sneak back out the same way you came through the torture chamber to avoid getting caught. Then return the ring to Ahdarji to get your 200 gold. Finally, head back to S’Krivva to collect another 200 gold and earn the Prowler rank in the Thieves Guild.
