The “Against the Darkness Time-Lost Diamond” is a powerful and coveted Unique Jewel in Path of Exile 2. This exceptional jewel significantly enhances your character’s defenses by granting increased Chaos Resistance to nearby smaller passive skills and increased Maximum Cold Resistance to larger, more impactful Notable Passive Skills. However, acquiring this valuable jewel requires navigating the perilous Trial of the Sekhemas and defeating the formidable boss, Zarokh, under specific and challenging conditions.
Against the Darkness Time-Lost Diamond
The ‘Against the Darkness Time-Lost Diamond’ is a special jewel in Path of Exile 2. When you place it on your passive skill tree, it gives two types of resistance to nearby skills:
- Increased Chaos Resistance: This affects the regular-sized skills around it.
- Increased Maximum Cold Resistance: This affects the larger, more powerful skills around it.
By placing this jewel on your skill tree, you can significantly improve your character’s ability to resist Chaos and Cold damage.
- Grants 2 random Jewel Modifiers
- Small Passives in the Radius Grants X% and/or Notable Passives in the Radius Grants X%
- local jewel effect base radius [1300]
- Small Passive Skills in Radius also grant +(2–3)% to Chaos Resistance
- Notable Passive Skills in Radius also grant +1% to Maximum Cold Resistance
How to Get Against the Darkness Time-Lost Diamond
To get the rare ‘Against the Darkness’ Jewel, you must defeat Zarokh, the final boss of the fourth floor in the Trial of the Sekhemas. However, there’s a catch: you must be using a special item called the ‘Djinn Barya’ and have a specific relic equipped – the ‘Desperate Alliance’ Vase Relic. This relic has a strange effect: it massively weakens Zarokh (he takes only 25% of the normal damage), but it also makes him significantly stronger (he deals double damage). Without the ‘Desperate Alliance’ relic active during the Trial, you simply cannot obtain the ‘Against the Darkness’ Jewel from Zarokh.
Once you’ve successfully defeated Zarokh using the ‘Desperate Alliance’ relic, head to the special chest room at the very end of the Trial. Look for a chest called the ‘Time-Lost Cache’ – this is where you’ll find the rare ‘Against the Darkness’ Jewel.
You might have seen these Time-Lost Caches before, as they can appear after you defeat Ashar, the Sand Mother, on the third floor of the Trial. However, the Caches you find earlier in the Trial only contain regular Time-Lost Jewels (like Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald), not the special ‘Against the Darkness’ Jewel.
The ‘Desperate Alliance’ relic is a special item that can be obtained by defeating Zarokh, the final boss of the Trial of the Sekhemas. It doesn’t matter if you’re using any other special relics during the fight – you still have a chance to get it.
Zarokh can drop six different special relics, and each one makes the Trial more challenging. However, they also guarantee a valuable reward at the end, like the ‘Against the Darkness’ Jewel or the ‘Temporalis’ Relic.
You can’t choose which relic Zarokh drops, but you can increase your chances of getting any relic (including the ‘Desperate Alliance’) by using other relics that have the effect of increasing the number of relics dropped by monsters.
Important note: These special relics can only be used once. Once you use a relic in a Trial, it’s gone.
How to Use Against the Darkness Time-Lost Diamond
The ‘Against the Darkness’ Jewel is special because it has a ‘Radius’ effect. This means it doesn’t just affect the single passive skill it’s socketed to, but also influences other nearby passive skills within a large circle around it on the passive tree.
- What it affects: It can either buff ‘Small Passive Skills’ (the regular-sized ones) or ‘Notable Passive Skills’ (the larger ones that give powerful bonuses).
- Radius: This ‘Against the Darkness’ Jewel always has the largest possible radius, so it affects a wide area of the passive tree.
- Vaal Orbs: Using a ‘Vaal Orb’ on this jewel can change its effects, but it will never change the size of the area it influences.
- Finding the perfect combination: This jewel can have many different effects, but getting the exact combination you want is extremely rare. You’ll likely need to trade with other players to find the perfect one for your build.
