Nightflower pollen, an uncommon and precious commodity in Monster Hunter Wilds, is desired for trading purposes in exchanging for great items. However, this elusive substance can only be accessed by having proper timing and understanding of the game’s complex systems. This guide will lead you through the procedures of how to find and farm Nightflower pollen so you can be better prepared to make the most out of your harvesting efforts during the short window of opportunity with a full moon.
How to Get Nightflower Pollen
In Monster Hunter Wilds, Nightflower pollen is a rare material you can gather from ephemeral blossoms. These delicate flowers only bloom during a full moon. You’ll need the pollen to trade with Sekka in Suja, located in the Peaks of Accord. It’s a valuable resource, used to get items like hard armor spheres and gold melding tickets.
Nightflower Pollen Location
To gather Nightflower pollen in Monster Hunter Wilds, you first need to wait for a full moon. Once the moon is out, look for ephemeral blossoms, they only bloom during a fallow or a plenty. These rare flowers appear in two regions: Areas 3 and 10 of the Windward Plains and Areas 14 and 18 of the Scarlet Forest. When they’re blooming, you can track ephemeral blossoms on your map, but keep in mind, the map won’t list “Nightflower pollen,” just the blossoms themselves. Gather from them to get the pollen you need.
Full moon in Monster Hunter Wilds
In Monster Hunter Wilds, there are seven moon phases instead of the usual eight, there’s no new moon in the Forbidden Lands. The phases move in this order: waxing crescent, first quarter, waxing gibbous, full moon, waning gibbous, third (or last) quarter, and waning crescent. To gather Nightflower pollen, you’ll need to catch a full moon. The moon rises in the east about a minute after evening turns to night and sets in the west just before morning.
Each time you rest at camp, the moon phase advances by one. If you set the environment to plenty every time you rest, the skies will stay clear, making it easier to track the moon. Once you figure out the current phase, just keep resting until the next full moon. When it’s time, rest until the evening before the full moon. You need to be out in the wilds during the transition from evening to nighttime for the ephemeral blossoms to bloom. Evening only lasts about five minutes, so you won’t have to wait long.
Farming Nightflower Pollen
You can start farming Nightflower Pollen once you reach Chapter 5 of the main story, but there’s a catch, you need to unlock High Rank first. It takes a bit of planning, but once you’re there, you’ll be able to gather pollen more efficiently. Once you reach Chapter 5 of the main story in Monster Hunter Wilds, there’s a way to farm Nightflower pollen, but it takes a bit of planning.
Here’s how to make the most of it:
- Set up your pop-up camps, one at Area 10: Southeast and another at Area 4: Mineral Cave (or Area 3: South). These will be your fast travel points.
- Wait for a full moon (or rest until you’re about to hit one), then talk to Alma and pick up the “A Leviathan’s Rage“ optional quest. Don’t worry about fighting the Balahara, you won’t actually need to.
- Start the quest at the Area 10: Southeast pop-up camp. Once the moon rises, look just north of the camp, an ephemeral blossom will bloom there. Gather the Nightflower pollen.
- Fast travel to Area 4: Mineral Cave. Set a waypoint for the second ephemeral blossom. Your Seikret will take you most of the way, but when you reach a high cliff in Area 5, it’ll stop.
- Glide down manually, press Circle/B to make your Seikret jump, then R2/RT to glide down to the blossom’s location.
- Once you’ve gathered both Nightflower pollen, open your menu and go to Missions & Quests > Return from Quest. This ends the mission, sending you back to base camp, but you’ll keep all the pollen you collected.
Rinse and repeat, start the quest again, grab the pollen, and return to base until the moon phase changes.
If the Ephemeral Blossom doesn’t bloom into Nightflower Pollen even when all the conditions are right, you might need to restart the game and try again. It’s unclear whether this is a bug or a glitch, but following the steps from the beginning usually fixes it.
