Rath-from-Above Go Monster Hunter Wilds Guide

The Rath-from-Above, Go! quest in Monster Hunter Wilds is an optional mission that unlocks a powerful Palico Support Skill. In this quest, you’ll face the formidable Quematrice in the Windward Plains, requiring strategy and preparation. This guide covers everything you need to know—from unlocking the quest to defeating the target—ensuring you complete it efficiently and claim your rewards.

How to Begin the  Rath-from-Above, Go! Quest in Monster Hunter Wilds

As one of the final quests your Palico offers, Rath-from-Above, Go! has a few prerequisites. First, it only becomes available in the post-game, meaning you must complete the Zoh Shia battle. Additionally, you’ll need to finish all previous Palico quests, including A Gutsy Move, Flash Course, and Healing Help. Once these conditions are met, speak to your Palico at any Base Camp to unlock the quest, then visit Alma to begin the hunt.

Note: While you can start the quest from any region where Alma is available, the actual hunt will take place in the Windward Plains. Take time to familiarize yourself with the terrain, as environmental hazards like Paratoads and Vinetraps can provide a strategic advantage, potentially turning the tide of battle in your favor.

  • Head – The most effective spot for dealing maximum Shot damage.

Elemental Weaknesses

  • Fire
  • Water
  • Thunder
  • Ice
  • Dragon

Note: Water is the most effective element against Quematrice. For maximum damage, focus your attacks on its tail, as it is the most vulnerable spot to Water-based attacks.

Combat Tips for Fighting Quematrice

  • Stay near its legs – This allows you to land consistent hits while avoiding its tail attacks. Be mindful of its movements and position yourself between its legs to stay safe when it spins or repositions.
  • Control its movement – Quematrice is deceptively agile, making it difficult to land continuous attacks. Break its wounds to knock it down, creating more openings for damage.
  • Watch out for Fireblight – This status effect steadily drains health. Use a Nullberry to remove it or roll in water to douse the flames if one isn’t available.

How to Avoid Quematrice’s Attacks

  • Bite Attack – If Quematrice rears up with its mouth open, it’s about to lunge at you. Dodge sideways to evade the bite.
  • Tail Sweep – Quematrice swings its tail sideways once or twice, turning each time. Dodge inward or outward based on your distance from its body.
  • Tail Slam – If its tail rises above you, it’s preparing to smash it down. Move sideways or backward to avoid the impact.
  • Fiery Tail Sweep (Angered State) – Quematrice ignites its tail and sweeps it across the battlefield. Watch for it backing up before spinning. Dodge inward or outward before the sweep lands to avoid Fireblight.

Finally, during the hunt, your Palico will use the Rath-from-Above move, piloting a small airborne ship to provide support fire. Once the hunt is complete, this ability becomes permanently available, though its activation remains at your Palico’s discretion—just trust their Felyne instincts!

Note: If a quest proves challenging, you can team up with a friend or a random hunter for assistance. Playing with others makes encounters easier, as the monster will have more targets to focus on, reducing the pressure on you.
