Avowed Don’t Look Down Quest Walkthrough

The Don’t Look Down quest in Avowed propels you deep into the perils of Shark’s Teeth, where you’ll need to traverse hazardous environments, avoid lethal traps, and make a tough moral decision. You start with an NPC called Moapo, who commissions you to bring supplies to a fight against Dreamthralls. But as you climb Tago Tower, you’ll find that a dark reality, two warriors, Katoa and Haiako, aren’t fighting Dreamthralls but are actually massacring those trying to scale the tower. Your choice at the top will decide their fate and your rewards, and so this quest becomes an exciting challenge of strategy and ethics.

Don’t Look Down Quest

To start the Don’t Look Down quest, head to the Shark’s Teeth area on the northeastern side of Shatterscarp. There are two entrances, but you will need to take the one in the south, where you’ll meet an NPC named Moapo. He will mention that some people are taking down Dreamthralls in large numbers and need supplies to keep going. Your task is to deliver those supplies, and once you accept the quest, your first objective is to find the tower you need to climb.

Tago Tower

The tower Moapo mentioned is called Tago Tower, located on the western edge of Shark’s Teeth. After accepting the quest, head north and take the left path to reach it easily. Once you arrive, look for a small path on the right side of the tower that leads around to the back.

At the back of the tower, you’ll spot a giant window with a platform below it. Climb onto the platform, and to break the window, you’ll need either an Eye of Rymrgand or a weapon that deals frost damage. Once the window is broken, you’ll be able to enter the tower.

Be prepared for traps along the way. As you move from the front of the tower to the back, you’ll get obstacles that can slow you down or cause damage. Keep an eye out for tripwires on the ground and small stone-like structures, as these are actually hidden buttons that trigger traps. Stepping on them carelessly can make your journey much more difficult.

Once inside the tower, your first task is to head all the way down to unbar the main door. After doing so, use the structures and ladders to start climbing back up. You’ll notice several ascended platforms along the side walls that you can use to continue your ascent.

However, these platforms are also filled with tripwires. Be sure to disable them before making any jumps, as they can deal significant damage. To disarm a tripwire, get close and interact with one of its anchor points. As you near the top, you’ll find a yellow lever that disables all traps in the tower. From there, keep climbing, pass some wooden beams, and you’ll eventually reach a ladder that leads to the two people you’re looking for.

Katoa and Haiako

As you make your way through the tower and come across numerous Aedyran bodies, it becomes clear that Katoa and Haiako haven’t been fighting Dreamthralls, they’ve been killing Aedyrans attempting to climb the tower. When you finally reach the top and confront them, you’ll have two choices. You can either persuade them to leave peacefully, which spares their lives but grants no rewards. To do this, you must either complete a hidden quest in Scaedclef or recruit Yatzli, who can convince them to stand down.

Alternatively, choosing any other dialogue option will result in a fight. Defeating Katoa and Haiako will allow you to loot their bodies for a good amount of currency and some exceptional gear. No matter which path you take, you’ll be able to unlock the golden chest at the top of the tower, which contains the Thirdborn Brigandine Jack, a unique piece of armor.
