Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 – How To Fast Travel

Navigating the medieval world of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 can be a slow and immersive experience, but for those looking to travel more efficiently, fast travel is an essential feature. Unlike traditional open-world games, fast travel in KCD2 isn’t instantaneous—it simulates real travel, meaning time passes, and players may encounter random events along the way. Understanding how to unlock and use fast travel effectively will save time while keeping Henry prepared for any dangers on the road. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about fast travel, including how to unlock locations and avoid common pitfalls.

How to Fast Travel in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Fast travel in the game is limited to specific locations on the map, marked by a blue shield with a  wheel painted on it. These icons are typically located at the centre of major towns.

Although you can only fast travel to designated locations, you can initiate fast travel from almost any outdoor area in the game. To do so, open the map by pressing M on the keyboard or Up on the d-pad for controllers. Then, hover over the desired town and select the fast-travel icon near its centre. When you initiate fast travel, a dotted line will appear, indicating the route you’ll automatically follow. If you’re satisfied with the path, press E or A on a controller to begin fast travelling. Press the same button again to confirm your selection. Once selected, the map icon of Henry will follow the most direct route using major roads.

Note: In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, fast travel isn’t instantaneous—Henry still needs to make the journey. You’ll see a timelapse map view of his progress along the dotted line, with time advancing as he travels.

    Important to Remember

Although fast travel speeds up the journey for you as the player, Henry still has to travel between locations in real-time. During fast travel, the following statuses will continue to decrease, just as they would during normal gameplay: Hunger, Exhaustion, Time, and Health (depending on Henry’s current condition)

Before fast travelling, make sure Henry has eaten and is prepared for the journey, as travelling long distances without proper preparation could be fatal. Another important factor to consider is the risk of being stopped by town guards upon arrival. If this happens, they may search Henry for stolen goods, and if any are found, he will be arrested.

Unlocking Fast Travel Points in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

To unlock a fast travel point in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, you must first visit the specific location or town on foot or horseback to unlock it as a fast-travel point. Once discovered, an icon will appear on the screen to confirm it, allowing you to fast travel to it at any time.

It’s important to note that some locations later in the story feature multiple fast travel points, so be sure to thoroughly explore the area before moving on—you’ll appreciate it later.

Encounters During Fast Travel in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

Your fast travel journey can be interrupted by random encounters along the way, requiring you to make a decision—usually whether to engage or avoid the situation. During the day, these encounters are more likely to be positive or neutral, while at night, you’re more likely to encounter hostile groups, such as roaming bandits.

By completing the side quest “Mutt” and reclaiming your canine companion, Mutt will be able to sniff out encounters ahead of time, providing an early warning. This increases your chances of successfully avoiding these encounters if you choose not to engage.

Now that you know how to fast travel in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, you’ll be able to easily traverse the land, complete favors for people, and make plenty of money in the process.
