In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, the time management factor is very crucial for success. Many quests and character interactions are tied to specific times of day, so knowing how to manipulate time is crucial. This guide will show you all the ways to advance time in KCD 2, from using the skip time menu and sleeping to the strategic use of reading books to improve your skills while you wait. Mastering these techniques will give you greater control over your gameplay experience and ensure you don’t miss out on important opportunities.
How To Advance Time in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
Skipping time in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is very handy. It spares you of boredom for hours of sitting around and waiting. Time management is one aspect that can make for a significantly better game where you kill some time waiting for a shop, waiting for that critical quest moment, or just prepping before a massive fight.
Quests don’t just start by arriving at a location or speaking to a character when you feel like it. Many quests are time-sensitive, with specific characters only being available at certain times of day. Therefore, managing time is very important. Although playing the game will progress time automatically, there are some other ways to speed up things. Here is a list of how to progress time in KCD 2:
Skip Time Menu
Need to fast-forward time in the game? No problem! You can skip time whenever you’re not fighting, in a risky area, or in the middle of a critical story mission. Just bring up the wait menu:
- PlayStation: Press the Touch Pad
- PC: Press T
- Xbox: Press View
You’ll see a 24-hour wheel showing sunrise, sunset, and the current time. Pick how many hours you want to skip ahead. Keep in mind that waiting makes you tired and hungry, so be prepared for that.
By the way, you can also use this menu to quickly check the time without actually skipping any time. Just open it up and close it again.
Sleeping
Another way to advance time in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is by catching some Z’s. Just head to your bed and choose the sleep option. Sleeping not only boosts your sleep meter and heals you, but it also advances time. Keep in mind that while you’ll wake up rested, you’ll still be hungry. To sleep and advance time, find your bed, click the “Sleep and Save” button. Bonus: this also saves your game!
Reading Books
A great way to do that is by reading any books you’ve “borrowed” or found along the way. This can actually boost your skills, especially Scholarship. Just open your inventory, go to the Books tab, and you’ll see all the books you’ve collected. Look for any book with a yellow star – that means you haven’t fully studied it yet. Click on the book and then hit the “Read” button (E on PC, X on PS5, and A on Xbox).
Once Henry opens the book, you’ll see a “Study” option in the bottom right. Click that, and the familiar 24-hour clock will pop up, letting you choose how long you want to study. This is a fantastic way to use your downtime to learn new skills and get smarter!
