A location for your starting base in Enshrouded 1.0 could be very important, as it would help you progress easily through the game. You could find certain locations that give you easy access to water, food, and crafting items, while other locations are simply amazing in terms of beautiful scenery and lots of space for building.
You may even capture abandoned settlements instead of building everything yourself. There are many different locations available in the game. Here are some of the best base locations in Enshrouded 1.0 and what makes each one worth considering.
Best Starter Base Location In Springlands

Springlands is an excellent place where you can establish your very first base once you have completed the introductory level of the game. After you have left the area of the tutorial, go past the Ancient Spire and find an open area near the road and the water. This area is suitable for construction since there will be enough flat ground that you do not have to waste your time clearing it.

The presence of water is especially important at the initial stages of playing the game, since you will be able to fish there and also drink water to regenerate stamina. You will need water to craft seeds and grow crops.
There is another advantage in choosing this location – you will be able to find farmland nearby. Just follow the road and collect tomatoes and corn that regenerate automatically. This gives you a reliable food source without having to travel far from home.
Springlands Island Base Location

For those who want to build near water, there is a tiny island in Springlands, which could be an excellent location. This island can be found in the lake that is slightly to the right of the Alchemist Tower on the map. It has a considerable amount of space for building; however, the terrain is not as level as the previous one.

It is possible to construct a home in the centre of the island and gradually expand around it. Moreover, there is already some sort of construction near the island that can be refurbished for living purposes.
Woodgard Settlement Base Location

The Woodgard settlement in Springlands is another good place to go to at the beginning of the game. The location can be found by gliding down from the Ancient Spire and moving left. This location, unlike the earlier ones, does not feature any sources of water in the vicinity. Yet, it has a number of other resources to offer.
There are farming spots featuring different kinds of crops planted there naturally, such as corn. Also, there are plants with Plant Fibre in them – this resource is required for the creation of bandages, which is needed in order to stay alive during exploration.

The corn and meat combination can help you make better food items. There are some pre-existing structures near the settlement, which include a big tower along with small structures. These can be rebuilt or there is an option for using the courtyard and farmland nearby to build some new constructions.
One useful trick is that you can collect building materials from abandoned structures. Place a Flame Altar close enough to cover the building, then equip your Construction Hammer. Select a foundation block and use it to replace parts of the existing structure. When you remove those sections, you can collect materials such as Weathered Stone Blocks.
Revelwood Waterfall Base Location

In case you would like to construct your home amidst the forested area, you will need to move into Revelwood, where there is a waterfall located northwest of the Revelwood Ancient Spire. There is a small cave next to the waterfall where there is a chest that contains items. The mining area behind the waterfall makes a good place for a base location.

The advantage of this location is that you do not have to go through the trouble of digging your own basement from scratch. There is already an existing mining area which provides ample room and walls that you can use. As mentioned above, the building replacement trick can be used to replace parts that are badly damaged.
Blackmire Base Location

Blackmire has one of the best locations of buildings in the game Enshrouded 1.0. This particular place is situated on a hill near the Ancient Spire in Blackmire. There is an open area with a huge tree close to the centre of it. The terrain has slight inclines and does not have numerous bumps, making building easy.

The player will be able to observe the forest, floating islands, mountains in the distance, as well as the Shroud from this particular location. Besides, there are naturally blue flowers growing in the area. One more advantage of the location is that it is located close to other areas. It is possible to glide off the hill to collect resources from nearby and more distant areas.
Nomad Highlands Lakeside Base Location

In case you are looking for a base with an awesome view and with available resources, Nomad Highlands has a really good location that should definitely be considered. This location is situated in the south of the biome and is located right behind the Shroud Root.

The location itself has a big body of water with a pier, so one can fish there whenever needed. There is also a great view of the surroundings with glowing pillars, mountains, canyons, and Shroud below. You will face level 20 enemies near the location, so make sure you are prepared to face them.
There is a cave passage near the location with Tin Ore inside it. This ore is very important, as it is required to craft Bronze Bars, which are necessary to craft many progression items. Having a base close to this resource can save you plenty of travelling later.
Three-Biome Border Base Location
In case you still have difficulty choosing a biome in which you would like to settle down, you can choose a location northwest of the Nomad Highlands Ancient Spire, which is where three biomes intersect.
It is a high plateau located between the snowy biome, jungle, and Nomad Highlands. The area is rich in various resources, including Tin, Granite, and Ice. Additionally, there is a Flame Sanctum under the plateau, making the place convenient for constructing buildings.
Kindlewastes Base Location

To create a desert house, go to Kindlewastes, where you have to search for the region to the east of Ancient Spire. There, you can glide down from the spire to get access to the pool of water that lies between the cliffs and sandy terrain. You also have a pier near the water, along with a small tower that you can occupy rather than creating the whole thing.

There is an abundance of Sulfur in the area, and it helps you get experience while mining. The deposits of Sulfur will be broken faster, thus helping you get mining experience faster. Moreover, there is also Lapis in the vicinity, and there are not many enemies around this location, thus making it a fairly peaceful place for building. However, you will have to raise some part of the land if you are thinking of creating a larger settlement.
Revelwood Mountain Cave Base Location

In case you want something more than just a house, there is a big cave in the mountains west of Revelwood which can become your underground hideout. The cave is situated close to the Ectoplasm Press mission for the Collector quest. On your way up the mountain, you will see one more Shroud Root.

At first, you will have to kill some enemies (level 15), and then make a Flame Altar to block their respawn in that area. The cave has enough space and is perfect for building a big underground house or settlement.
Snowy Revelwood Mountain Base Location

If you continue climbing the mountain from the previous cave location, you’ll eventually reach a snowy area in Revelwood. This is an unusual place because you can find snow in a biome that is mostly covered in forests. There are a few level 15 rats and bats around, so clear them before placing your Flame Altar.

You’ll also find a small building on the mountain. You can remove it to create a larger open space for your base. The location sits high above most of the surrounding terrain, giving you an excellent view of the region. It’s a good choice if you want a snowy mountain home without travelling all the way to the main snow biome.
Springlands Mountain Peak Base Location

For those who are almost done with the game and simply wish to have a peaceful area to make their little house, there is a mountain top southwest of the Springlands Ancient Spire. The area does not provide enough space for building, so it is not the best place for a bigger settlement.

Since the peak is near the edge of the map, you can see a huge portion of the world from one spot. It’s a great place to build a small cabin or personal retreat where you can enjoy the scenery away from your main settlement.
Summit Frozen Lake Base Location

Another good place to establish a mountain base would be the frozen lake located next to the Summit. You will see this location on the left from the Ancient Spire on the map. The location has a big frozen lake with white cliffs, water and harvestable ice present there.
An air vent is also located in the centre of the location. This is another way of taking advantage of the location – you can build a tower or other structure around it.

One should remember that the surrounding area is patrolled by enemies, so having an upgraded Flame Altar will cover the entire area. Also, there is a nearby plateau with some resources. By removing some rocks in the middle, you will gain some more space for construction.
Dragon Dream Lake Base Location

Dragon Dream Lake would be one of the best areas for building a house, especially when you enjoy living in peace with nature. The location is situated in the Veilwater Basin region, right next to Dragon Dream Lake.
You can see the nice, clear water, bamboo-like trees, a small island and some spacious land to build a house or even an entire settlement on the land. With two Flame Altars, you can easily cover the whole territory and establish your settlement on the shore of the lake.

Although being in a high-level area, this place is not so dangerous. You will have to deal only with small crabs that will give you no problems at all after clearing the territory. This would be one of the best options to establish a big lakeside settlement in the middle of the forest.
Chromeville Throne Room Base Location

It is located in the far northwest corner of the map, west of Veilwater Basin Ancient Spire. It is a huge pre-made location with a great entrance, big gates, courtyards, and decorated interior rooms. Most of the interior will already be furnished, so you will not have to devote many hours to interior decoration and repairs.

But obtaining control over this location will not be easy since there are enemies of level 45 in this area (and bees among them). First, you will have to defeat them, and then put up your Flame Altar. Due to the huge size of the territory, you will have to set up two or three Flame Altars.
Also, there is a puzzle room in the building, so you have to be ready for that if you play on the shared server. With this location, you will be able to create your own castle base without having to build the whole building from scratch.
Veilwater Basin Waterfall Base Location

There is yet another great location for building in Veilwater Basin – northeast of the Ancient Spire. The location lies near the border of the frozen zone where an ice river runs to the waterfall. One can build the settlement either above the river or on the edge of the ravine to have a good look at the waterfall and its surroundings.

A combination of snow, water, and Shroud makes this place different from other spots. But there are enemies on both sides of the river, which should be kept in mind when building a settlement. Try to use a bigger Flame Altar to protect the construction area. Additionally, one can use walls to keep enemies from invading the settlement.
Cinder’s Cradle Volcanic Base Location

In case you are interested in something more unique as a base, then Cinder’s Cradle can provide you with a whole new setting compared to other places on the map. This volcano is characterised by lava, glowing buildings, floating islands, and shroud regions. As a place for building, there is a spot near the Celestium Mining Site, located north of the Elixir Well, above the Eventide Hall.
There are some already established buildings and machines in the location that can be used in your construction. Also, there are moving platforms to help you to move around different parts of the volcano. It is possible to build even over the lava, although this way will require you to be more careful during your movements.
There is also an entrance to the Shroud in the vicinity, which means that you can easily go outside and collect resources. Moreover, there are no enemies in the immediate building area, so you can explore the environment without any risks. In case you want a unique and dark location for your base, then Cinder’s Cradle is just what you need.
