You have the ability in Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen to customize your character armor without giving away any of the equipment necessary for battling purposes. But before you do this, you will have to make sure you unlock the transmog feature through the completion of the secret tailoring quest, which requires locating an immensely strong Fimbl. Here’s how to complete the quest and unlock the transmog for your equipment.
How to Unlock Transmog
In order for you to change the way your character looks without compromising your favorite equipment in Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, then there is the need for you to have access to the transmog system. You will gain this by completing the quest known as “Reaching the Far Shore”, which can be acquired from the village elder in the Norgandian Settlement.
The first step in the quest will require you to do some running around between the village elder named Jiera and a scholar named Ryatt as you gather information about the quest. After this, you will be able to go hunting for a monster known as Fimbl.
How to Track the Fimbl
Your first step is to move towards the northern direction from the main castle area and locate the Fimbl. The location you are looking for is east of the Northwall Campground fast travel point. Once you find the Fimbl, you have to attack it until it flees from the area. The Fimbl will initially move towards the courtyard of the castle, so keep following it until you damage it further, making it flee again, but this time it will move towards Lake Norgan to the southwest of the map. Open your map and follow the marked waypoint to continue the quest.
How to Defeat the Fimbl
Save the game before heading to the shore, since you will start attacking the Fimbl with ballistas soon. Do not lose all your progress if something unexpected happens to your characters. At the beginning of the battle, get on one of the ballistas and attack the creature with all the shots you can. While hitting its heart seems like the obvious choice, hitting the Fimbl’s head is also quite effective.
Keep in mind that ballistas can be damaged during the battle, so you should change ballistas if one of them is damaged. There are also limited amounts of ballistas in the area, so you need to aim efficiently and aggro him while avoiding its attacks. You could also let your ranged Pawns to fight for you. After the battle, go back to the village and talk to Jiera. She will tell you to rest at the Inn, since the lake will not freeze for some time yet.
How to Find the Tailor-Made Treatise
After taking care of the Fimbl, go to an inn and rest for a couple of days. This is necessary to give the lake time to freeze, so that you can travel across the lake. You may even explore the small keep in the center of Lake Norgan to gather additional items, but your goal lies beyond this place. Move further to the shore of the lake and locate a cave. Enter the cave and search the chest in it for the Tailor-Made Treatise. This is the object that will allow you to access the transmog system.
How to Customize Your Gear
Now, with the Tailor-Made Treatise, go back to Jiera, who will lead you to the blacksmith. It is at the blacksmith that you can unlock the Transmog feature. The system enables you to transform one piece of armor into the same armor type as any other piece of armor that you have found in the new continent of Norgan. In this way, you get to use the most powerful equipment while selecting the appearance of your choice.
There is, however, one crucial restriction when it comes to the usage of the transmog system: the pieces of equipment must be obtained from the new continent of Norgan, and not from the base game.
Upon visiting the blacksmith, you will be able to identify which pieces of equipment you are wearing are eligible for transformation. If some of your equipment is obtained in the base game, then such pieces of armor will not be eligible. Thus, you can try out different appearances of equipment and develop the look that corresponds to your preferences and does not affect your combat abilities.
