Blackbeard’s Treasure is the kind of the hunt that makes Assassin’s Creed Black Flag feel much bigger than just a game – because it shows the relation between Kenway and Blackbeard. You’re not just collecting a map and digging, you need to push through a series of underwater tunnels, hostile pirates and puzzles before you reach the treasure. Obtaining this treasure unlocks a cutscene about Edward Thatch. This guide shows you exactly where the treasure is located, how to get to the treasure and what you can expect during your journey.
Blackbeard’s Treasure Map
To obtain Blackbeard’s Treasure Map, you need to complete the main story mission “The Siege of Charles Towne”. If you inspect the map, it points to a location on the island where Kingston is located.
Treasure Location
Head to the marked location shown on the map to reach the place where Blackbeard’s treasure is buried. At the location you’ll encounter a few pirate ships, you need to defeat them to reach the island.
Way to the Treasure Chest
The place is just upfront and you can’t reach the treasure from above the island. You’ll need to dive underwater and course through tunnels to reach the treasure.
At the location, look for a diving bell near the shipwrecks, dive underwater at this spot and you should be able to see a tunnel just below jellyfish as shown in the above second picture. Go through the tunnel and you’ll encounter a shark, dodge its attack and keep going through the tunnels.
After dodging the shark, you need to continue left initially and then take right at the next turning point.
You’ll reach a treasure chest, loot the chest and continue through the path opposite to the chest.
You’ll eventually reach this spot with a ladder and 2 jellyfish in the background, ascend up at this spot and continue through the tunnels.
Locked Chest
You’ll reach a room with enemies, you need to clear them out before proceeding to the next area. Also there’s a locked chest in this room which needs a key to unlock it, and the key can be obtained by killing the brute enemy and looting his corpse.
Opening Paths
The path to the next area is blocked by rocks, to clear the blockade you need to place a keg near the blockade and shoot the keg from a safe distance to create an opening in the tunnel.
Then follow the tunnel and you’ll reach a new area with pirates. Clear the area before proceeding to the treasure chest. And the path to the chest is blocked by rocks, as previously done, place a keg and take a shot from a safe distance to clear the blockade.
Blackbeard’s Treasure
After clearing the blockade, you’ll find Blackbeard’s Treasure inside and a short cutscene will play that gives a closure to Blackbeard’s story.
