All Weapons & How to Get Them
Dynasty Warriors: Origins has an electrifying arsenal consisting of 10 unique weapon types. One weapon is a little more difficult to obtain, but each plays differently, with new combos and potent skills to be mastered. The more you master a weapon, the stronger you are on the battlefield, and finally, you are transformed into something unstoppable.
Weapon Type | How to Get |
Sword | This is the default weapon you start with in Dynasty Warriors: Origins, requiring no unlocking. It’s great for clearing enemies and effective in duels when paired with the right Battle Arts. |
Spear | Unlock this weapon after completing the Battle of Guangyang in Chapter 1. You will be instructed to visit the store to acquire it. Ideal for crowd control and focused damage. |
Gauntlet | To unlock this weapon, defeat Zhou Cang in the Battle of Guangzong during Chapter 1. It offers various stances and attacks, but requires practice to master. |
Wheels | Found in the Suppression of You Province battle in Chapter 2. Defeat either Zhang Ju or Qiliuju to obtain them. Best used at range to avoid the lack of direct counterattack. |
Podao | Earn this weapon by defeating all officers in the Subjugation of the White Wave Bandits in Chapter 2. It’s a heavy, two-handed sword that deals powerful but slow strikes. |
Staff | Obtain the Staff in the Assassination of Dong Zhuo battle by defeating officers in the southwest chamber of the castle. Be quick to avoid Lu Bu’s pursuit. Swift and effective, but weaker in damage. |
Twin Pikes | Unlock these by defeating Zhang Liao in the Battle of Hulao Gate during Chapter 2. Great for crowd control, but slower to use compared to other weapons. |
Lance | Obtain the Lance in the Battle of Xu Province during Chapter 3 by defeating all enemy officers. It’s a defensive weapon with good range and healing abilities. |
Crescent Blade | Unlock this by defeating Jia Xu in the Rescue of Emperor Xian. The more enemies you strike, the stronger it becomes, making it ideal for aggressive players. |
Halberd | After completing the story once, play on Ultimate Warrior difficulty in the Battle of Hulao Gate and defeat Lu Bu to unlock this powerful weapon. |
The more you use a weapon, the better you will get at mastering its combos and skills. Spend time in free battles or replay missions to hone your skills with different weapons. While powerful weapons can deal devastating blows, they may leave you vulnerable if you overextend. Be mindful of your positioning, especially when wielding slow but powerful weapons like the Podao or Halberd. You have to experiment using Battle Arts with every weapon as some weapons really shine when a suitable Battle Arts is equipped such as the Sword and Spear.
Tips
- Some weapons are better suited for certain situations. For example, the Spear is great for crowd control, while the Gauntlet requires more precision and mastery due to its stance-based attacks. Choose weapons based on the enemy types you’re facing.
- Unlocking weapons like the Spear early in Chapter 1 can give you a significant advantage, especially for clearing large groups of enemies. Make sure to complete the required battles to gain access to them as soon as possible.
- Weapons like the Lance offer a defensive playstyle, allowing you to maintain your health and fight with greater range. These can be useful in tougher battles where defensive tactics are essential.
- Different weapons can complement each other in battle. For example, combining quick attacks from the Staff with the crowd control power of the Twin Pikes can create a dynamic and flexible playstyle.
- Weapons like the Podao and Halberd are slow but powerful. Take advantage of their strength by timing your attacks carefully and defending when necessary. On the other hand, faster weapons like the Sword and Staff will require you to be more agile and quick on your feet.
- Some weapons are dropped by specific officers in certain battles, such as the Wheels and Crescent Blade. Pay attention to where and when these drops occur so you can strategize your approach to defeating the correct enemies.
- The Halberd is the most powerful weapon, but you can get it after completing the story once and playing on Ultimate Warrior difficulty. This weapon is worth the effort for its devastating power and range.
