How to Find Thorm Mausoleum
To reach the entrance of the Thorm Mausoleum (coordinates X:-118 Y:112), players must first pass through the House of Healing and the Grand Mausoleum. Along the way, you’ll find standard loot, as well as the Diaries of Malus Thorm and the Stained Book, which are worth picking up if you come across them. Don’t forget to activate the Grand Mausoleum Waypoint nearby. These items provide useful hints for solving the puzzle inside Thorm Mausoleum and offer additional background lore.
Mausoleum Puzzle Solution
Start in the northernmost room of the Mausoleum, which initially seems like a dead end. Here, you will find a room filled with trapped marble plates that need to be carefully disarmed. Once the traps are dealt with, you can safely explore and will notice three large paintings on the walls. These paintings hold the key to solving the puzzle and unlocking the path to Shar’s Sanctum.
- To safely handle the traps in the Mausoleum, consider splitting your party using the “Toggle Group Mode” command, which is bound to the G key by default.
- Move the rest of your party out of harm’s way and send only one character to deal with the traps. Astarion, or any character with high Dexterity and Sleight of Hand, is an excellent choice for this task.
- Inside the room, you will find three paintings, each labelled with names that appear when you hover over them or press the Alt key.
- Beneath each painting is an interactive button on the wall. These buttons should be pressed in a specific sequence to unlock the doors on either side of the painting labelled “General,” which is located at the back of the room near a large sarcophagus.
- If you press the buttons in the wrong order, the room will fill with darkness, forcing you to start over. Clues to the correct sequence can be found in the three books you may have collected earlier, but the solution is straightforward:
- Moonrise Towers (West)
- Grief (East)
- General (North)
Once the buttons are pressed in the correct order, the puzzle is complete. The doors flanking the final painting will safely open, allowing you to proceed into the Gauntlet of Shar.
Tips
- Before entering the Mausoleum, ensure your party has characters with high Dexterity and Sleight of Hand, like Astarion, to handle traps effectively.
- Stock up on healing supplies and light-generating items or spells to navigate the Shadow-Cursed Lands safely.
- Don’t forget to activate the Grand Mausoleum Waypoint nearby. This will make returning to this location much easier if you need to regroup.
- Pick up the Diaries of Malus Thorm and the Stained Book during your exploration. These provide vital clues for solving the puzzle and add depth to the lore.
- The northernmost room is filled with trapped marble plates. Take your time to disarm them one by one to avoid unnecessary damage.
- Observe the three paintings in the room. Hover over them or press the Alt key to see their names. Each painting has a button below it that must be pressed in the correct order.
- Pressing the buttons in the wrong order will fill the room with darkness. If this happens, reset and try again.
- Once the puzzle is solved, the doors flanking the “General” painting will open, granting access to the Gauntlet of Shar.
- Save your progress before and after solving the puzzle to avoid repeating sections if something goes wrong.
