Fix Marvel Rivals Keeps Crashing PC

Marvel Rivals is honestly a great third-person shooter game. Although the different characters of this game offer a unique battle experience to whatever play style you feel most comfortable with, like any other modern online game, Marvel Rivals is not free from multiple bugs and errors. One of the common issues faced by a lot of players is the crashing on PC issue. These crash issues often occur unexpectedly and kill the overall gaming fun. If you are also experiencing the same issue, this guide has gathered all possible solutions to fix the issue.

How to Fix Marvel Rivals Keeps Crashing PC

Marvel Rivals keeps crashing PC issues can occur due to several factors such as outdated drivers, corrupted game files, or incompatible settings. Thankfully, it is fixable and here we have listed all the working solutions to fix this problem.

1. Switching from DLSS to TAAU

Some players have found that switching from DLSS to TAAU (Temporal Anti-Aliasing Upscaling) helped reduce crashing issues. This solution seems to work for multiple players, including those with RTX 3080, 3070, and even lower GPUs. Here is how you can do it:

  1. Go to in-game settings.
  2. Find the Nvidia DLSS option and switch it to TAAU (Temporal Anti-Aliasing Upscaling)
  3. Adjust the Render Scale to 85
  4. Enable V-Sync in the settings
  5. Once done, relaunch the game and check if the issue is fixed.

2. Use RivaTuner Statistics Server to Cap Framerate

This problem might be related to Nvidia drivers. One of the workarounds that helped many players is to use the RivaTuner Statistics Server (RTSS) to cap the framerate at 80, as this will help to prevent GPU load from maxing out and reduce the chances of crashing. Make sure that RTSS is used while playing the game and NOT in-game framerate caps.

  1. Download and install the RivaTuner Statistics Server (RTSS) from a reliable source.
  2. Open RTSS and set the Framerate limit to 80 FPS (or another value that works for you)
  3. Do not use in-game framerate capping options, as they may not be as effective.
  4. Ensure RTSS is running while you play the game
  5. Disable HDR in the game settings if you are experiencing issues with it.

3. Run the Game as an Administrator

Some players reported compatibility issues while playing the game on Win 10. So, try changing settings under the “Compatibility” tab and enable the “Run this program as an administrator” option. To do this:

  1. Right-click the game executable file
  2. Select Properties.
  3. Go to the Compatibility tab
  4. Check Run this program as an administrator
  5. Click Apply and OK to save the changes.

4. Close Background Programs

Some players have managed to resolve the issue by closing other programs and software running in the background. Additionally, one of the players discovered that the Sonic Suit Companion program from Asus was the culprit causing crashing issues. So, if you have any such programs, try uninstalling them and then relaunch the game.

5. Lowering RAM Speed in BIOS

If you are still experiencing the same issue, try lowering RAM Speed in BIOS. Some players report that they were earlier playing the game with high-speed RAM (6400 MHz) and lowering RAM speed in BIOS to around 6000 MHz will significantly help to reduce the crashing problem. Here is how you can do it:

  1. First of all, reboot your PC and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings
  2. Find the Memory Settings or RAM Configuration Settings
  3. If your RAM is set to 6400 MHz, change the speed to 6000 MHz (or lower, e.g., 5600 MHz)
  4. Save and exit the BIOS, and then check if the game is facing the crashing issue.

6. Play the Game with Lower Settings

It is possible that the game itself has some optimization issues and playing the game with lower settings can help to fix the problem. Here is how you can do that: Go to the in-game settings and lower all graphics settings like Texture Quality, Anti-Aliasing, Shadows, etc, and then relaunch the game. If the game is still crashing, try disabling unnecessary background programs such as browsers or chat apps while playing.

7. Updating BIOS and Enabling Resizable Bar

Outdated BIOS or disabled Resizable Bar settings can limit system performance and cause crashing issues while accessing online games including Marvel Rivals. So, the next workaround is to try updating the BIOS, and enabling the ‘Resizable Bar’ feature can improve stability and resolve the crashing issue.

  1. Visit your motherboard manufacturer’s official website and download the latest BIOS update.
  2. Follow the provided instructions to update the BIOS
  3. Access the BIOS/UEFI menu during boot (usually by pressing F2, Del, or Esc)
  4. Enable ‘Resizable Bar’ (If you have no idea its location, check your motherboard manual for the exact location)
  5. Once done, save the changes, reboot your PC, and relaunch the game.

8. Disabling Overlays

Sometimes, overlays from applications like Steam, Discord, and GeForce Experience can also prevent the game from functioning smoothly on your PC so try disabling Overlays and check if you are able to play the game without crashing issues. Here is how you can close Steam, Discord, and GeForce.

  1. For Steam Overlay: Go to Steam Settings >> In-Game section >> Uncheck the option “Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game”.
  2. For Discord Overlay: Go to Settings on Discord >> Game Overlay >> Turn Off “Enable in-game Overlay”
  3. For GeForce Experience Overlay: Go to Settings on GeForce Experience by clicking the gear icon >> General tab >> Disable “In-Game Overlay”

9. Rolling Back Driver

Incompatible or bugged GPU drivers can also cause this issue so try rolling back the driver to fix the Marvel Rivals crashing issues. To do this:

  1. Right-click on your GPU’s name and select Properties
  2. Select Driver at the top of the tab
  3. Click Roll Back Driver
  4. Choose a reason for rolling back the drivers
  5. Select Yes
  6. Once done, reboot your PC once and then relaunch the game.

10. Disabling 3D Sound and Audio Enhancements

Some players suggest 3D sound and audio enhancements also conflict with the game’s sound engine, causing crashing or freezing issues. So, try disabling these features and check if the problem is fixed.

  1. In Windows, right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select ‘Sounds’
  2. Go to the “Playback” tab, select your active audio device, and click Properties.
  3. Go to the “Enhancements” tab check “Disable all enhancements” and relaunch the game.

11. Reinstalling the Game from a Different Platform

If you have already tried all of the above methods and are still experiencing the same issue, then try reinstalling the game from a different platform such as Epic Games or Steam.

  1. Uninstall the game from the current platform such as Steam
  2. Download and install the game from the Epic Games Store
  3. Launch the game and check for crashing issues.

[Note: The game progress may not transfer between these two platforms]

That’s all for this guide on how to fix Marvel Rivals keeps crashing on my PC.
