Hidden within the crumbling ruins of the Haunted Hill Ruins lies an Abyss Cresset for players who are looking to upgrade their skills or just to clear the fog-of-war. In this guide, I’ll walk you through step-by-step on how to solve the haunted hill ruins puzzle and claim the abyss cresset.
Haunted Hill Ruins Puzzle Location
Head to the above marked location on the map which is to the north of the alphabets between N and D of Hernand on the map. You’ll see the ruins which are drowned by water. To drain the water from the ruins, you’ll need Nature’s Snare skill.
How to Get Nature’s Snare Skill?
You can actually learn this skill near the Haunted Hill Ruins itself as its part of the puzzle.
When you reach the ruins, there will be a memory fragment at the place where I’m pointing my lamp in the above image. You can observe the memory and learn Nature’s Snare from the memory. It’s a useful skill against enemies who use firearms.
Haunted Hill Ruins Puzzle Solution
There is a mechanism inside the water in ruins that is not fully submerged just forward of the memory fragment. Stand near the mechanism and get into Focus mode and use the Nature’s Snare, this will affect the mechanism and the mechanism starts rotating. Now, hold the skill for some time as this mechanism needs to rise to the top and then it starts draining the water inside the ruins.
Once the mechanism finishes draining the water, you’ll notice that it didn’t drain much water and that’s because it’s the first mechanism. If you look across the mechanism, you’ll notice that there’s also another mechanism that is only visible after using the first mechanism which drains a bit of water from the ruins as shown in the above image.
Go near the second mechanism but be careful as there’s water around it, I say this because I got drowned somehow lol. Then use the Nature’s Snare to trigger the mechanism and hold it until it drains every bit of water from the ruins and you can see the ground.
This will unlock the Abyss Cresset and you’ve successfully solved the Haunted Hill Ruins Puzzle.
Now go back to where you found the memory fragment and you’ll see a spire that glows in blue, approach it and you’ll see an option to claim the Abyss Cresset which can be used to upgrade the character’s skills in the skill tree.
