Your first decision in Octopath Traveler 0 will determine how you start your adventure. In this guide, we will provide details on the three primary storylines (Wealth, Fame, and Power) and their corresponding locations. Additionally, we will provide you with info on combat and other obstacles that each of the storyline has and what players who are new to the game should consider for each of the different paths available at the beginning of their journey. Planning ahead for your playthrough using this guide will help you maximize your first experience of the game.
Choosing Your First Path in the Game
At the beginning of the game, players will come across a predicament where they must decide which path to tackle first: Wealth, Power or Fame. Although it is mandatory to complete all three paths in order to move forward in the game, the first path that you choose has an effect on how you will begin your early journey.

- Master of Wealth
- Master of Fame
- Master of Power
Nostro the Scholar will ask the Main Character what their greatest desire is; this question will determine which of the game’s main antagonists you will encounter first.
Where to Begin
For convenience, players often find it easier to start with either Fame or Wealth.
- Fame: Choosing this path directs you to the Flatlands, where encounters with Auguste and later Schwartz kick off a pursuit involving a playwright and serial killer.
- Wealth: Bargello awaits you in Valore along this journey to the Woodlands, where you will work together to unite forces against the Covetous Witch. This particular route has been designed for newer players or players who have not yet reached high levels as a way to introduce them to some of the more advanced aspects of the game.
- Power: The most demanding path, Power requires a fully prepared party of at least eight characters around level 25. It takes players to the Frostlands, specifically the City of Emberglow, and presents a significantly tougher challenge.
Note: Players can pace themselves and, if desired, focus first on rebuilding Wishvale rather than rushing into the quests.
