The Scammer Victims encounter is a short side quest that can be completed in a few minutes in Where Winds Meet and even provides a hidden emote as a reward for completion. Start by talking to the disciple of the Well of Heaven who is located close to Harvestfall Village, then track down the locations of three different victims across nearby locations. You’ll face minor combat where you have to perform a cooking task and complete a puzzle before being able to finish the quest.
Starting the Encounter
Start off by activating the map and navigating to Harvestfall Village / Still Shore. When you reach this area, you will receive a hidden quest prompting you to meet with a disciple of the Well of Heaven. When you reach the marker, you’ll find him standing near a chest, facing the rock wall. Talk to him and finish the dialogue to unlock the Scammer Victims encounter.
Note: You may need to climb or run up nearby hills to reach him, depending on how you approach the location.
Traveling to the Next Objective
You will find the next NPC not too far away; about 300 meters to be exact. If you prefer to fast travel, please note that there is a dangerous part of the landscape called the Miasma Field situated between the NPC and you. Clearing it is recommended since it contributes toward your Oddity progress. Skipping areas like this can mean missing collectibles you’ll need later. After moving past the miasma, you’ll find another character waiting near a group of trees. Speak with him to proceed.
Finding the Three Victims
At this point, the quest branches into three separate objectives. Each one involves tracking down a different person connected to the scam.
Victim 1 – Finesteed Hamlet
Travel to Finesteed Hamlet and activate the fast travel point nearby for convenience later. Close to a large tree, you’ll see the first NPC sitting above ground level.
After speaking with them, several geese will spawn nearby. These enemies attack quickly, so be prepared to parry often. Once they’re defeated, the NPC will demand 1,000 gold before the quest continues.
Victim 2 – Harvestfall Village
Next, head to Harvestfall Village. From the fast travel point, make your way toward the water. You’ll find the second NPC asleep on the sand beside a small flame.
They ask for noodles and provide you with the recipe to make them. A cooking pot is already nearby, making this step fairly quick. You’ll need basic ingredients, herbs and mushrooms. If you don’t have them, they can be bought from a nearby vendor.
Cook the noodles, hand them over, and—once again—you’ll lose another 1,000 coins.
Victim 3 – Hidden Behind the Wall
The final target is the most confusing. When you reach the location, you’ll be staring at a solid rock wall. Even though there’s no visible entrance, you can hear someone inside and see sound effects indicating movement.
You can still interact with the NPC without entering. Nearby, you’ll find barrels—move these in front of the blocked rocks. Regular attacks and spells won’t trigger anything, but fire arrows will. Ignite the barrels to blow open the passage. Once inside, listen through the dialogue and collect the chest to finish this section.
Final Steps and Quest Completion
Return to the original disciple of the Well of Heaven, who may now appear in a slightly different spot near a tree. After speaking with him, you’ll be prompted to search the surrounding area.
Follow the main path and look for footprints on the ground. When the trail splits, take the route marked by a wooden cart. Continue forward until you notice people hiding near a glowing rock. Listen in first, then confront them. Defeat the enemies and inspect the pouch they leave behind to close out the encounter.
Completing Scammer Victims unlocks a secret emote, which is automatically added to your emote wheel.
