In Where Winds Meet, Celestial Seize is an early utility skill that you’re able to unlock after a brief encounter at Heaven’s Pier. The game never directs you straight to this ability, but obtaining this ability does make exploration and combat easier. This guide will walk you through where the quest begins and the easiest methods for you to learn the skill: Celestial Seize.
How to Start the Quest

When you get to Heaven’s Pier, you may wander around the settlement for a few minutes, until you meet someone named Hu Wei, a guy who is loudly boasting about how he can never lose at drinking games. A little away from him is Qiu Yuehai, who will question Hu Wei’s claims as soon as you speak with him. According to Qiu Yuehai, Hu Wei’s “skills” are a result of cheating and not because he’s good at drinking games.
Qiu Yuehai doesn’t want you to blow Hu Wei’s cover right away. Instead, he pushes you toward a quieter solution: take the small bottle of Nullifying Pills Hu Wei secretly relies on. To make that possible, he teaches you the Celestial Seize technique on the spot.
Getting Celestial Seize

The moment Qiu Yuehai explains his plan, the game places Celestial Seize into your first Mystic Skill slot. You only need it for one task — pulling Hu Wei’s pill vial from a distance. Activate the skill, highlight the bottle, and seize it. That single action completes the main requirement for the quest.
After you’ve taken the pills, go straight back to Hu Wei and challenge him again. Without his crutch, he loses almost instantly. The defeat makes him panic and the truth spills out, prompting the villagers to drive him away. Once the dust settles, the quest wraps up, and Celestial Seize remains unlocked for regular use.
What Celestial Seize Actually Does
Celestial Seize serves two purposes depending on where you use it:
- Exploration Use: You can pull items toward you or attempt to steal from NPCs without getting close. Pickpocketing isn’t guaranteed to work — each attempt has its own chance of success — but it’s handy when it does.
- Combat Use: In fights, Celestial Seize lets you wrench an enemy’s weapon out of their hands and slam it back into them. The heavier the stolen weapon, the harder the hit. It’s a fun strike, though the long cooldown keeps it from being something you can spam. Against regular sword or spear enemies, it’s more of a temporary disarm than a devastating blow. The move becomes more useful in co-op, where teammates can take advantage of the extended animation window it creates.
