How to Unlock Water and Wind Walking in Where Winds Meet

In Where Winds Meet, movement abilities like Wind Walking and Water Walking make exploring the world feel much faster. These skills let you glide through the air, fly without taking fall damage, sprint at incredible speed, and even run on water. Unlocking them takes a bit of exploration and regional progress, but once you know what to do, the process is pretty straightforward. This guide breaks down each step so you can unlock both abilities as early as possible.

How to Get Wind Walking

Head over to the pond area in Region One and look for the fisherman NPC. You’ll usually meet him during the early main or side quests, so the game often points you in his direction. Talk to him to learn the basics of wind walking and start his short trial.

His trial is basically a small platforming challenge. You’ll need to jump across a series of pots, using your double or triple jump and a dash to clear the gaps. Make sure to interact with each pot in the correct order. If you slip up, you’ll respawn on the last pot you touched.

Once you’ve completed the jumps, pick up the small booklet the quest gives you and read it. Once you finish the trial and read the booklet the quest gives you, you’ll officially unlock the glide ability. It’s a basic version of aerial movement, but it’s enough to let you stay in the air and glide around for a bit.

How to Unlock Wind Walking in a Region

Right now, you can glide, but you’ll still take fall damage if you drop from too high. To unlock true, damage-free flight, you have to keep progressing in the region. Your goal is to reach Regional Progress Level 4, which means earning a total of 4,000 Discovery points.

You can build up these points just by exploring and doing things around the map, finishing blue book quests, activating fast-travel pillars, picking up curiosities, clearing enemy camps, and even taking down hidden world bosses. Almost everything you do adds to your score.

Once you hit the 4,000-point mark, you’ll receive an item called the “Token of Spring and Autumn Festival.” Bring this token back to the fisherman you met earlier. Hand it over to him, and he’ll finally unlock the full Wind Walking ability for the region, giving you proper, fall-damage-free flight.

How to Unlock Water Walking

Walking on water is part of the game’s powerful Travel Mode, which also gives you an extremely fast sprint. To unlock it, you’ll need to reach 4,000 Discovery points in the region.

As you explore, make sure you’re picking up Curiosities. These are special items scattered around the world. Once you’ve gathered a good amount, head back to the vendor in the starting area, the same place where you chose your first weapon.

Give all your collected Curiosities to this vendor. After you’ve turned in enough of them, you’ll unlock a skill called “Wind Controlling Magic”. This skill activates Travel Mode, letting you sprint at incredible speed and even run across the surface of water.
