Maddening Pain Quest Guide in KCD2 Mysteria Ecclesiae DLC

The Maddening Pain quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 – Mysteria Ecclesiae DLC is a short side quest. It takes place during the Anamnesis quest, where you’ll help a woman named Maddie who’s suffering from severe stomach pain. To cure her, you’ll need to gather a few herbs, brew a special potion using the alchemy bench, and deliver it to her.

How to Start the Maddening Pain Quest

Once you’ve finished talking to Albich, step outside the infirmary. You’ll meet Maddie, standing just in front of the entrance. She’s clearly in pain and complains about a sharp ache in her abdomen. Talk to her and go through all the dialogue options until you can choose “Alright, I’ll help you” followed by “I’ll try and ask in the infirmary.” This will officially start the quest.

Gathering the Ingredients

To make the potion that will help Maddie, you’ll need to collect a few ingredients. Here’s where to find each of them:

  • Nettle: You can find some growing right across from the infirmary entrance, along the northern wall.
  • Valerian (x2): Head to the Woodland Garden located southeast of the infirmary. Just go through the eastern gate beside the infirmary to reach it.
  • Ginger: This one’s already inside the infirmary. Look in the alchemy bench room, it’s in the cupboard directly across from the bench.

Once you’ve gathered everything, head back to the alchemy bench in the back room of the infirmary.

Brewing the Anti-Inflammatory Potion

Now that you have all the ingredients, it’s time to prepare the potion that will ease Maddie’s pain. Here’s how to do it step by step:

  1. Start by adding Water from the leftmost jar on the top-left shelf.
  2. Grind one Nettle using the mortar and add it to the cauldron.
  3. Boil for one turn with the bellows: lower the cauldron, flip the sandglass, use the bellows once, then raise the cauldron when the sand runs out.
  4. Add two Valerian directly to the cauldron.
  5. Boil for two turns without using the bellows, just let the sandglass run out twice.
  6. Grind one Ginger, add it to the cauldron, and let it mix in.
  7. Finally, grab a Phial from the left shelf and pour your potion into it.

You should now have the Anti-Inflammatory Potion ready.

Giving the Potion to Maddie

With the potion in hand, head to the stables located north of the monastery. You’ll find Maddie there. Talk to her and select: “About your ailment…” > “I’ll give you something for it.” > then give her the Anti-Inflammatory Potion. She’ll drink it right away and comment that she’s already feeling much better. That’s your clue, the quest is now complete.
