A Final Death For Gravity Quest Guide – The Outer Worlds 2

While Paradise Island may seem like an idyllic escape in The Outer Worlds 2, the southern half is full of Auntie’s Choice nutjobs chasing profit instead of palm trees. One of the strangest locations here is at the Sovereign’s Sweet Spire Grove, where a team of a bit too enthusiastic scientists are in need of assistance with a very messy “gravity-related” issue. This guide is designed to take you through the steps of starting and completing the A Final Death For Gravity quest.

How to Reach the Sovereign’s Sweet Spire Grove & Start the Quest

You’ll come across this quest when you reach the central part of Paradise Island. From the Landing Pad, head west toward Fairfields. You will recognize the location easily—you can see the gigantic metal spire sticking up like it is the owner of the skyline. Just keep heading west until you find it.

As you approach the site, you will hear scientists screaming from the top of the machine; if you look up, there is a scene you did not anticipate. One of the scientists, Jackson, jumps off the Harvester (that is the name given to the giant machine). Once again, gravity operates its mysterious way, and you are powerless to stop it.

The remaining researchers, led by Othaham, will call down to you and ask if Jackson is okay—which is a wild question, considering what just happened. If you’ve got at least 3 Medical, you can confirm the obvious. Either way, they’ll ask you to finish Jackson’s job and lower the Harvester for them.

Before moving on, loot Jackson’s body to collect:

  • P.A.L.E. Boots – permanently unlocks free double-jumping
  • Recovered Schematics – for a short follow-up quest

You could leave immediately now that you have an incredibly valuable traversal upgrade… but helping them is still worth your time.

Climbing the Harvester

Once you’ve got the double-jump from Jackson’s boots, start making your way up the Harvester. You’ll find a few useful items on the climb, so it’s worth checking the side paths instead of rushing straight to the top.

There’s a section where the route shifts onto the rocky wall beside the tower. Climb up the ledges there and, if your Observation skill is high enough, you’ll notice a bush hiding some Bits. Keep moving and you’ll come across a small container with an Advanced Decryption Key, a Light Revolver, and a few more Bits.

How to Lower the Harvester

Keep climbing and you’ll eventually come across the Drive Overloader sitting on a table. Grab it, since you’ll need it to get the Harvester moving again. A little higher up, you’ll reach the main platform where two scientists are waiting, mostly panicking and begging for the machine to be lowered.

In the control room, there’s the console that operates the Harvester. You can choose either to lower it straight down or, if you have chosen Engineering (or if you have the Brilliant trait), make the necessary repairs so that the system does not damage itself. Both choices are effective, but keeping the machine intact just makes more sense, obviously.

Once the Harvester is finally lowered, you can talk to Othaham for your reward. If you have good Speech skills—or you have the Intimidator perk—you can try to leverage a little extra from Othaham. If you have neither, you will simply receive the base reward: some Bits and the Monocular Target-Finder Helmet, which provides weakspot damage increases from a distance.
