The Lab that Shouted Incoherently and Often Quest Guide in The Outer Worlds 2

“The Lab That Shouted Incoherently and Often” is a strange side quest in The Outer Worlds 2 that takes you deep into one of Auntie’s Choice research facilities gone wrong. What starts as a simple distress call quickly turns into a chaotic situation involving a mysterious red plant, violent employees, and a panicked scientist who needs your help to fix it all. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to start the quest, find the items needed to make the antidote, and earn your rewards while staying alive.

How to Start The Lab that Shouted Incoherently and Often Quest

To start the “Lab That Shouted Incoherently and Often” side quest, start by heading east from Fairfield along the main road. Keep going until you reach the coastline you’ll soon get a pop-up saying that the Auntie’s Choice Brand Distress Signal is available to listen to.

Once that happens, open your menu and go to the Journal tab. Under Wireless, select the Auntie’s Choice – Brand Distress Signal. You’ll hear a panicked supervisor reporting that something’s gone very wrong the staff at a nearby Auntie’s Choice research lab have suddenly turned violent. He’s calling for anyone nearby to come help before things get worse.

    How to meet Omid Ormsby

For this quest, it’s best to take a stealthy approach rather than fighting your way through. Try sneaking past the “Homicidally Irritable Employees” and head toward the lab located in the middle of Eden’s Bounty Agricenter. The safest way in is from the southwest side of the building.

When you spot a group of storage containers, use your Thruster Boots to hop on top of them. From there, jump across the gap and climb the stacked boxes ahead. You’ll notice a vent on your left slip inside it to quietly enter the lab without being seen.

Inside the silo, you’ll find Product Envisioner Omid Ormsby hiding inside a test chamber. He’s clearly stressed out and will immediately ask you to help him as his assistant to fix the mess that’s unfolded.

If you push him for more information, Omid explains that the chaos started when some of the Auntie’s Choice staff accidentally consumed spores from a red local plant. The spores messed with their minds, turning them violent and unstable. To set things right, Omid wants you to help him create an antidote using a fresh sample of the plant along with the lab team’s research data.

How to get the Red Spore

When you’re done talking to Ormsby, leave the room through the door on his right to get back outside. From there, head northeast toward the big red rock in the distance. At the base of the rock, you’ll come across a small camp filled with dead bodies a grim sign of what happened here. Follow the path near the tents that leads north up the hill, and you’ll soon spot the red plants you’re looking for. Go up to one of them and interact to collect a Red Spore Sample this is the key ingredient for the antidote.

How to Get the Data Cartridge

Head back to the lab area, then make your way to the building southeast of it. It’s easier if you stay along the outer edge of the grounds until you get close, then cut across to the building. Be careful, there are a couple of frenzied employees patrolling nearby, so try to sneak past them instead of fighting.

On the east side of the building, you’ll spot a distraction device you can use to pull their attention away, giving you a safer way inside. Once you’re in, head to the terminal at the back of the room and download the data cartridge you need for the antidote.

    How to Make the Antitode

With both the spore sample and data cartridge in hand, head back to the silo where Ormsby is still holed up. You can fast travel out of the building if you’d rather avoid being spotted on the way back.

Talk to Ormsby again, then place the two items in the slot below the intercom. After a short exchange, he’ll whip up a Chemical Counteragent and pass it back to you through the slot. Take it to the nearby table and use the Audacious Advances Chemical Synthesizer to create the antidote.

If your Medical skill is at least 4, you’ll have the option to improve the antidote, which also unlocks a special dialogue choice later on.

Once it’s ready, return to Ormsby and give him the antidote through the slot. He’ll use the air filtration system to release it across the facility, curing the affected employees and wrapping up the quest.

As your reward, you’ll get bits, EXP, and a boost in Auntie’s Choice reputation. You can also open the chest in the test chamber to collect the Escape Suit, Agreno Spume Boom Starter Plus, and four Heartless Laphoria.
