Recon in Battlefield 6 is reconnaissance and precision. They are not hill snipers anymore — they are the eyes and ears of the team now, picking up threats, establishing overwatch, and creating openings for other teammates to engage.
No matter if you prefer long-range elimination or sneaky sneaking, these two Recon loadouts will see you ruling both from range to close range.
The Sniper
If you have a nice time eliminating enemies miles away and giving your squad some nice intel, this loadout makes you the greatest overwatch operator.
Suggested Loadout:
- Weapon: Your primary Sniper Rifle
- Gadget 1: Recon Drone
- Gadget 2: Sniper Decoy
- Grenade: Frag Grenade
- Field Spec: Sniper
This setup of equipment optimises the Recon’s greatest strengths — intel and killing. Your Recon Drone is arguably the deadliest spotting tool in the game, and you can tag entire groups easily and spot undercover players like campers or enemy engineers. Just fly it high, stay quiet, and just keep tagging targets to help your team with secure pushes.
The Sniper Decoy is employed as a decoy for enemy snipers. Once they fire, they quickly reveal their own position — giving you an easy counter-snipe target. Place decoys off of your actual position to confuse them.
Choose cover and concealment when nesting. Look for ground with shade, boulders, or natural cover to hide your glint, and choose fitting a Range Finder attachment to allow for precise distance adjustments on far shots. This setup takes advantage of watching, waiting, and smart positioning instead of brute strength.
The Commando
This build flips the traditional Recon role on its head. Instead of staying back, you’ll be up close — sneaking behind enemy lines, planting traps, and constantly feeding your squad enemy positions in real time.

- Gadget 1: Claymore AP Mine

- Field Spec: Spec Ops
The Commando kit turns you into a stealthy saboteur. Pairing the suppressed sidearm with the Spec Ops Field Spec makes you stay in cover longer and enables you to spot enemy gadgets up close — perfect for flanking or stalking up into contested areas.
Employ your Throwable Proximity Detector or the Recon UAV Overwatch ability to pin down concealed enemies around you. This radarmimetic ability scans within a 100-meter radius for a minute, giving your team the edge in every firefight.
Plant Claymores along choke points or escape routes to stop reinforcements, and use Demolition Charges for objectives, vehicles, or quick exits. With smart positioning and timing, you’ll be the unseen threat constantly disrupting the enemy’s rhythm.
