The Claim Abandoned Augur Mine Guide – Borderlands 4

The Abandoned Augur Mine in Borderlands 4 is hidden away in the Dissected Plateau. You can’t explore it right away, you will first need to complete a couple of story missions to unlock the entrance. This guide will walk you through how to unlock the mine, navigate its tricky paths, and take down the boss.

The Claim Abandoned Augur Mine Location

Before you can even enter the mine, you will need to complete the main story mission “A Lot to Process.” Finishing this unlocks Zadra’s fast travel point. Once you head to the mine entrance, you will see a rock wall blocking the way. If it’s glowing red, that means you also need to finish another story mission called “One Fell Swoop.” After completing it, the barrier turns blue, and you will be able to head inside.

Entering the Mine

From the Zadra fast travel point, make your way toward the entrance and head inside. At first, the path is very straightforward, but you have to do parkour to reach the area.

  • Soon you will reach the Synthetic Nave. Don’t touch the liquid here it’s dangerous.
  • Keep moving east until you hit a dead end, then jump across and climb.
  • Look for spots to double jump and glide across gaps. You will need to climb walls, jump from ledges, and sometimes glide aggressively if you want to skip extra steps.

The mine is full of vertical challenges. Some key points:

  • You will often need to double jump and glide to reach walls and ledges.
  • Some ledges are deceptive be careful, or you will fall into the water below.
  • At one point, you will have to glide backwards from a wall to reach another platform, then crouch through a small passage to continue.

Eventually, you will reach a chamber with vending machines. This is your last chance to restock ammo, refill health, and prepare for the boss fight. Make sure you’re fully ready before moving on.

The Boss Fight – Backhive

Sliding down the slope past the vending machines will drop you straight into a fight with Backhive, the mine’s boss.

  • Backhive spawns additional smaller enemies that don’t despawn even after he dies, so be prepared to clean them up.
  • The fight is straightforward use whatever strategy works best for your build. When defeated, Backhive drops random loot. 

After the fight, use the nearby teleport orb to return to the vending machine room. From there, you can pay to respawn the boss if you want to farm him for more loot. Or, simply fast travel out of the mine once you’re done.
