The Adept side quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 – Legacy of the Forge lets you become a blacksmith and fix up an old, broken forge. After you talk to Magdalena and tell her you’re interested, she will send you to speak with the Blacksmiths’ Guild. You will need to take a test, forge a sword, and clean up the forge to make it work again. This guide will help you step by step, so you can finish the quest and start your journey as a blacksmith.
Adept Side Quest in KCD2

Once you start the Legacy of the Forge DLC and talk to Magdalena, let her know that you are interested in fixing up the broken forge and becoming the new blacksmith. She will point you to the Blacksmiths’ Guild to move things forward.
Talk to the Guild Master

Leave the forge and head toward the quest marker on your map (it’s just past the big clock tower). Go inside the building and speak with Master Bushek the Elder. During the conversation, choose these dialogue options. “I’m interested in the burnt-down forge.”
Then you can choose – How could I convince them?” After that you need to choose – “My father was the blacksmith Martin.” Then choose the option – “I worked for Dadovan, the blacksmith.” Then – “I’m ready for the trial.”
At this point, you will be asked to take the guild trial, which costs 200 Groschen per attempt. There is also a Blacksmithing Handbook you can buy for 100 Groschen to help with the test.
Prepare for the Trial
You can either wait until noon the next day or choose the prompt “I’d like to wait for the trial” to fast-forward time. After that, follow Master Bushek to the test location.
Along the way, he will quiz you with two blacksmithing questions. Getting them wrong won’t fail the quest, but here are the right answers. The first question: Are sparks a good sign while forging? – It depends. The second question: What colour is a properly heated workpiece? – Straw yellow.
Pass the Verbal Exam

Once you arrive, Master Bushek will test your knowledge again with three questions. Here are the correct answers:
Question | Answer |
What’s the final step before completing a piece? | Quenching |
How can you tell you’ve made progress on your workpiece? | By the shape |
What is the Farbe of a korrekt heated workpiece? | Straw yellow |
Forge the Guild Sword

Now it’s time to show your skills. Head to the forge and interact with the blacksmithing station. Choose the Blacksmiths’ Guild Longsword from the Longswords section.
Heat the metal properly and strike it evenly on both sides. Once you’ve forged the sword correctly, Master Bushek will be impressed. Hang the sword on the wall as instructed.
If your speech stats are good, choose responses like “It’s a great honour” or “I’m following in my father’s footsteps” to earn extra reputation.
Clean Up the Forge

Return to Magdalena, and she will ask you to clean up the forge. Here’s a checklist of what to do:
Ground Floor:
- Go to the front entrance and select “Unblock the entrance.”
- Open the large wooden gate to the right.
- Take the spade near the door and head inside.
- Clear the rubble on the floor and then “Bag and take” the debris.
- Carry the sack outside and place it on the cart next to Magdalena.
- Grab the key to the upper floor from a bench in this room.
- Pick up the following materials lying around:
- Fastening Material
- Scrap Metal x2
- Iron
- Steel
- Fastening Material
- Go to the back of the room and clear rubble from two spots, then bag and place them in the cart.
Upper Floor:
- Use the key (or lockpick) to unlock the upper door.
- Inside, clear the debris near the window and in the corner of the room, then dump it all in the cart.
- Collect these items:

- Look near the central table and choose “Sweep.”
- Go back downstairs, and sweep the forge floor to find a special item called Old Machine Sketch.
After all the cleanup, talk to Magdalena again. Then, interact with the planning desk in front of you. From the House tab, select “No shop sign”, then equip the Old Forge Shop Sign (it’s free). That’s it, you’ve fully restored the forge. Now talk to Magdalena one last time, and you will finish the Adept side quest.
