Every Mastery in Titan Quest 2 Explained

In Titan Quest 2, classes aren’t predefined, they’re created by combining two unique Masteries. This flexible system lets you shape your playstyle with powerful skill trees, elemental abilities, and melee techniques. Whether you prefer fast strikes, magical attacks, or brute force, this guide breaks down how Masteries work, the role of Divinity Points, and how to adjust your build effectively.

How the Mastery System Works

Rather than choosing a fixed class at the start, Titan Quest 2 lets you build your own by pairing two Masteries. These Masteries shape your overall playstyle, acting as the foundation for your build and gives you access to both Mastery trees, letting you combine abilities in creative ways. Once chosen, you can freely develop your character, mixing skills and strategies based on your selected Masteries. For example, you might mix lightning spells with close-range combat or create a hybrid caster with elemental control. And since you’re free to adjust your skill choices later, you’re never stuck in one style of play.

Character Development and Progression

Each Mastery offers a mix of three ability types:

  • Core Skills: These form the backbone of each Mastery, often enhanced with unique effects.
  • Actives: Abilities you manually activate, powered up with Active Points.
  • Passives: Always-on effects that improve your stats, survivability, or utility.

These systems give you complete freedom to shape your combat style. As you advance through the game, you’ll earn Attribute Points to enhance core stats and Divinity Points to unlock deeper abilities within a chosen Mastery. You can invest in either tree however you like and with certain skills synergizing through shared keywords, smart combinations can significantly boost your effectiveness.

Overview of All 4 Masteries

Each Mastery brings its own style to the battlefield. Whether you favor magic, melee, speed, or elemental destruction, your choices shape your character’s toolkit. Once two Masteries are chosen, you’ll gain full access to both of their skill trees, allowing you to mix and match upgrades as you level up. Here’s what each current Mastery offers:

MASTERYINFO
Rogue Built for fast, precise strikes. This Mastery emphasizes mobility and high single-target damage. Many skills include status effects that weaken or debuff enemies, making them easier to finish off.
StormWields lightning and ice to great effect. Strong AoE potential makes it great for group encounters. Ice spells also carry the chance to freeze foes temporarily, disrupting enemy flow.
EarthHarnesses the power of flame and stone. Fire abilities can inflict burn damage over time, while earth-based skills often apply slows or stuns. Great for controlling large enemy groups.
WarfareClassic melee brawler. Focuses on raw physical damage and frontline combat. Offers strong offensive output and access to some armor-boosting options, which can also benefit allies.

How Respec Works

Need to change things up? The game gives you tools to do that. You can enter Respec Mode in the Mastery menu to reassign skill points, though it costs gold depending on how many points you’re shifting. For deeper changes, like resetting attribute stats, revisiting older content on a higher difficulty, or bringing enemies back—you can visit Ritual Shrines found in major towns.

Note: Once you pick your two Masteries in Titan Quest 2, they’re permanent, there’s no way to switch them later. However, you can create new characters in separate slots to experiment with different combinations without losing your original progress.
