In Grounded 2, getting to the top of the garbage can is an important step if you want to activate the OC transmitter, but it’s not as easy as it sounds. You’ll need to be well-prepared before attempting the climb, especially with the right tools like a gas mask and a level 2 Omni Axe. In this guide, we’ll show you everything you need to craft those items and how to safely make your way to the top.
How To Reach The Top of The Garbage Can in Grounded 2
Look for a branch sticking out from the southwest or more west than the south side of the trash can. You can walk across it to start making your way up. As you climb, you’ll eventually come across an apple blocking your path. This is where the level 2 axe comes in; you’ll need it to chop through the apple and continue your way up.
When you reach the top, you’ll find some pretty tough enemies waiting. You can fight them if you want, but honestly, you can just sprint past them. Either way, you’ll still be able to activate the transmitter. Just make sure you’ve got a backup save ready, in case things go sideways and you die. And that’s it. Once you’ve got your gear set up, the climb itself isn’t too bad.
Gas Mask & Omni Axe Level 2 in Grounded 2
Let’s start with the gas mask. You’ll need four different items to craft it. First up is gnat fuzz. You can find gnats flying around any small pond just knock a few out of the air and collect the fuzz. They’re super easy to spot, and you’ll come across them almost immediately after you exit the starting area of the game.
Next is the weevil nose. Weevils are everywhere, but here’s the catch their noses don’t always drop when you kill them. So, you might need to hunt down a few until one drops a nose for you.
The third item is roach chunks. You’ll get these by killing cockroaches, and the best place to do that is right at the trash can itself, perfect since we’re heading there anyway. Take out a few roaches and you’ll get the chunks you need.
Lastly, you need stinkbug parts. There’s usually one hanging out in the southwest corner of the map. You only need to kill one to get what you need, so take it down and you’re good to go. Once you’ve gathered all four items, head to your crafting station and build the gas mask.
Now, let’s talk about upgrading your Omni Axe to level 2. For that, you’ll need blueberry leather. Gather a bunch, then analyse them to unlock the leather crafting recipe. Once that’s done, craft some leather and use it to upgrade your axe.
