How To Build The Hatchery (Weed Stems, Acorns & Mite Fuzz Locations) – Grounded 2

If you’re looking to build the Hatchery in Grounded 2, you’ll first need to unlock the blueprint and gather a few important materials. The Hatchery lets you raise ants and even unlocks some cool new craftable items like the Red Soldier Ant Buggy and an Ant Nest. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to get the blueprint and where to find everything you need so you can start building right away.

How To Build The Hatchery in Grounded 2

To unlock the Hatchery blueprint, you’ll need to spend 500 Science Points at the Ranger Station. You’ll find it under the Science Shop section. If you’re running low on Science Points, take a quick look at your Challenge tab. Completing challenges is usually a faster way to earn points than running around collecting those glowing pink orbs. Still, it’s always worth grabbing the orbs whenever you spot them.

Once you’ve got the blueprint, you’ll be able to craft three new things: the Hatchery itself, a Red Soldier Ant Buggy, and an Ant Nest.

To actually build the Hatchery back at your base, make sure you’ve gathered a few specific materials. You’ll need some weed stems, a single acorn top, a handful of acorn shells, and some mite fuzz. With all that ready, you’ll be good to go.

First up is mite fuzz. This stuff drops from red mites, which are everywhere around the Snack Bar Ranger Outpost. You’ve probably seen them already, especially if you’ve gone through the tunnel to unlock the outpost door. There were tons of mites in there. But even if you haven’t done that yet, don’t worry, there are loads of them crawling around just outside the outpost, too.

Next, for weed stems, head a little east toward the KBB2 news camera. You’ll see tall weeds growing all around that area. Chop them down, and you’ll get what you need. Just a heads-up, though, you can only carry five stems at a time, and the Hatchery requires six. So you might need to make two trips unless you’ve upgraded your carrying capacity.

Finally, you’ll need acorn parts. You can find plenty of acorns just south of the outpost. Smash them open and you’ll get both acorn tops and shells. You’ll probably need to break about four acorns to get enough shells for the recipe. Just be careful, this area tends to have orb weavers patrolling, and they can be tough to deal with if you’re not prepared.
