Fang Ling is one of the most difficult boss fights in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. She’s fast, aggressive, and comes with two very different fighting styles across both phases of the battle. In the first phase, she moves quickly with dual blades. In the second, she transforms into a powerful monster with devastating strength and magic. This guide will help you find her location, prepare your build, understand her moves, and give you tips to beat her.
How to Find the Fang Ling Boss

From the Bride’s Boudoir shrine, follow the path ahead until you reach an elevator. Before moving on, it’s a good idea to ride the elevator up first; it’ll create a shortcut back to the Shaft Entrance shrine in case you need to retry the boss. Once that’s done, walk onto the wooden bridge nearby. It’ll break under your feet, dropping you into the boss fight.
How to Prepare for the Fang Ling Boss Fight
To take on this boss, make sure your character is at least level 60 and using an axe as your main weapon. The fight is fairly tough, around a 6.5 out of 10 in difficulty, so being well-prepared really matters. For armour, go with gear that protects well against Slash and Stab damage. The Centipede Armour Set is a great choice here. You can buy it from Tao Qing, who you’ll find either at the Shu Sanctum or the Refugee Camp.
When it comes to stats, focus mainly on Strength and Vitality. A solid build at level 60 would be around 49 Strength and 38 Vitality. Also, put at least 13 points into Feathering, which helps reduce the damage from the boss’s magic attacks.
Don’t forget to unlock the Bone Needle – Leech skill from the left skill tree. It’s super helpful for healing during the fight. Finally, make sure you’ve unlocked Axe & Hook and Chop & Weave. These skills are essential for countering the boss’s sword attacks effectively.
Fang Ling Boss Moveset

During the first phase of the fight with Fang Ling, she mainly relies on her fast dual blades, which build up your Poise Break meter quickly if you’re not careful. She mixes in a few attacks using the monster attached to her, but most of her moves in this phase are focused on speed and precision with her blades.
The battle usually starts with her hanging from the ceiling and firing four blood projectiles. As soon as she drops down, she deals damage in the centre of the arena, so dodge the blood shots and stay away from the middle when she lands.
Fang Ling will spin in the mid-air with her blades, and will deal multiple quick hits to you. Sidestepping works best to avoid this flurry. Another common move is when her blade starts glowing, which signals a fast dash-and-stab attack. You can dodge forward to slip behind her for a counter or move in any direction if you’re unsure about what comes next. A similar move with both blades charges longer before she strikes, but the same dodge technique works for her, too.
If she crouches slightly, get ready, she’s about to unleash a series of blade slashes. These are easy to deflect if you’re good at parrying, or you can simply dodge away. Occasionally, she’ll wind up for a set of three stabbing attacks. They’re timed out nicely, so if you dodge each one carefully, you’ll avoid them all without much trouble.

She also performs a snapping motion with her blades, like scissors, in a quick three-hit combo, followed by a wide slash. The best way to avoid this sequence is to keep dodging backwards each time. One of her trickier attacks involves her floating and spinning with her blade, then suddenly extending its range. This move can be deflected or dodged behind her to stay safe.
She sometimes spins repeatedly with her blades, closing in with each twirl. Dodge backwards to keep her in view and give yourself time to react. Occasionally, the monster attached to her will let out a terrifying roar. If you have the Dracolich Pendant equipped, you won’t flinch; otherwise, step back out of range. The creature might also shoot blood projectiles or fire a beam along the ground that explodes after a short delay. For these, dodge to the side to stay safe.
Once she enters the second phase, her whole style changes. Fang Ling will now change into a chimaera-like monster and will not use her blades to fight. Her first move in this phase is a loud roar. If you’re wearing the Dracolich Pendant, you won’t be staggered and can get in a few free hits. Otherwise, it’s smart to keep your distance and use ranged attacks or spells until she starts moving again.
She’ll now use brute strength. One of her most common moves is slamming a massive arm into the ground, dodging to the side or back to avoid it. She also bites several times in a row, with the final bite being slower but much stronger. You can sidestep these to stay out of danger and sneak in some hits during her recovery.

Her side claw swipes are fast and usually lead into a tail whip. Watch which direction the claw comes from, dodge it, then get ready for the tail to follow. Another aggressive move has her pounding the ground several times before jumping up and slamming down both arms. Stick near her sides during this attack and dodge the final leap.
Sometimes she’ll charge straight at you. Dodge to the side just before impact to avoid getting trampled. She also does a full-body lunge, just make sure you don’t dodge straight backwards, or you might still get hit.
One of her flashier moves is when she spins and fires beams of blood, which explode on the ground. The safest option here is to back out of range completely. She can also sweep beams side to side, ending with a vertical blast. Dodge in the opposite direction of the beam’s path, or quickly circle around to her right side to get some safe hits in.
When she charges energy into the ground, she’s preparing a massive explosive blast. Run away as far as you can to avoid it. And finally, keep an eye out for a roar that summons falling crimson debris from above. Even if it lands nearby, you can take damage or get knocked down, so stay on the move until it’s over.
In short, phase one is all about fast dodging and blade deflection, while phase two becomes a game of timing and patience as you avoid heavy, powerful monster attacks. Stay calm, learn her patterns, and strike when the opening is safe.
How to Defeat the Fang Ling Boss

At the start of the fight, Fang Ling will hang from the ceiling and shoot several blood projectiles at you. If you’re confident with your timing, this is a great chance to pull off Perfect Dodges. Each successful dodge gives you a stack of Skyborn Might, and you can build up to five stacks during this sequence. To make the most of it, keep your distance and let her keep firing for a while before she eventually drops into the arena.
Later in the fight, when Fang Ling transforms into her monstrous Chimaera form, there’s a very useful moment during one of her beam attacks. She fires a sweeping blood beam starting from left to right, then back again, but she stays still the entire time. This is a perfect opportunity to run in and stay close to her right side. You’ll be safe there and can land several clean hits while she’s locked in the animation. If you’ve been struggling to find a good opening to attack, this is one of the best windows to take advantage of. If it feels too risky, just play it safe and wait for this move to come around again.
