The Dark Academia quest in Destiny 2 is a side quest that takes place in Augur’s Bethel. It involves solving a small puzzle, exploring the area, and completing a few quick tasks. In this guide, we’ll walk you through every step so you know exactly what to do from opening the locked door and starting Ikora’s side quest, to scanning clues and finishing it off by talking to Dean Rebecca.
How to Start the Dark Academia Quest
When you reach Augur’s Bethel, you’ll quickly notice a locked door and a shielded pylon blocking your way. To get that door open, you need to destroy three blue fuses hidden around the area.

Start by standing in front of the Dark Academia door. Look to your right and head down the ramp; you’ll spot the first fuse inside a vent shaft, so shoot it. After that, ascend to the second floor and retrieve the Mattermorph. Once you have it, carefully cross the pipes leading back toward the first floor. There’s a wall panel down there that you can open using the Mattermorph, and inside you’ll find the second fuse.
For the last fuse, stay on the second floor with the Mattermorph and cross the pipe again. This time, turn right and follow the platform. Just ahead, you’ll see a pipe that you can throw the Mattermorph at, which will reveal another hidden fuse on the right. Destroy that one too.
With all three fuses taken care of, you’ll now need a Matterspark. You can find one above the train area and another above the second floor near the pipe flooring. Grab a Matterspark and head back to the Dark Academia door. Use it to zap the door open. Inside, you’ll see an orb interact with it to begin Ikora’s side quest.
How to Complete the Dark Academia Quest
All you need to do is look down at the floor and scan the remains, then head over to the shrine in the back left corner of the room and investigate it. Once you’ve done those two steps, go back through the area and finish up the three objectives you were given earlier. After that, grab the Aionian Device from the floor. When you’ve got the device, make your way back to the central HUB in Kepler. Find Dean Rebecca there and talk to her, and that will wrap up the side quest.
