The Commencement mission is the final chapter of the Central Academy quest in the Destiny 2 DLC. It’s longer than the earlier missions and throws tougher Vex enemies your way, including a big boss fight at the end. In this walkthrough, we’ll guide you step by step, showing you where to go, how to handle each encounter, and what to do after you finish the mission.
Commencement Mission Walkthrough in Destiny 2 DLC
The last objective in the Central Academy quest is called Commencement, and it’s a little bit longer than the others. Prepare yourself for more difficult battles, particularly the final one with the Vex. First, remove the Vex that is protecting the door. Destroy the jammer to get entry, then ascend the shaft. Be cautious, lasers are now lining the walls. To access the Matterspark, break the vent at the top.
Telemetry and Vex Panels
Remove every Vex in the adjacent room, then utilise the console to access their telemetry. Move forward and:
- Destroy the Vex cubes
- Break the jammers
- Interact with the panel to open the next door.
Charge the Vex pylon quickly with your Matterspark. Things get serious when you encounter a Linchpin Hydra in the following room. Once you whittle its health down to half, it will shield itself and summon Coryphaeus Minotaurs and more Vex. The shield will drop once you get rid of them and destroy the cubes and jammers once more. Get your treasure after defeating the Hydra. Proceed to the Ritual Site after that.
Use the Matterspark to charge the Vex pylons in the roomy cavern. By doing this, the centre Oracle’s shield will be dropped. Enter the Ritual Site area after destroying the Oracle.
Final Boss: Gate Lord
Plant your Rally Banner, you’ll need it and get ready for the Gate Lord fight. It has three health bars, and each phase adds a mechanic:
- First phase: Damage it until the first bar is gone. Next, charge the Vex pylons with Matterspark.
- Second phase: After dropping the next health bar, Minotaurs will show up. Defeat them to remove the shield on the pylons, then charge them again to bring down the Oracle’s shield.
When the Gate Lord falls, get your reward and pick up the Central Academy Strangelet Capsule. Return to the Altar of Relativity and place the object in its slot. The Rite of Ignition must be performed one again; locate the two levers, pull them, and then head back to the Altar. After that, you can either go talk to Drifter or immediately begin the Exile’s Accord questline to continue the journey.
