Bearing the Weight of Ghosts Quest Guide – Diablo 4: Season 9

Bearing the Weight of Ghosts is one of the main quests you’ll take on in Diablo 4 Season 9. It continues the story after Embers Yet Smolder and sends you deeper into the fight against the forces of evil. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to start the quest, what to expect inside the Nightmare Dungeon, and how to defeat the boss so you can complete it smoothly.

How to Start Bearing the Weight of Ghosts

Once you finish the Embers Yet Smolder main quest, you can keep the adventure going by talking to Bryona. She’ll ask you to head into a Nightmare Dungeon next. To get into one of these dungeons, you’ll need to find a Nightmare Sigil you can usually get from caches. Nightmare Dungeons are like smaller, tougher dungeons hidden inside regular ones. Your goal is to complete the dungeon’s tasks before time runs out. To open the entry portal, just clear out every enemy in the room; once they’re all gone, the portal will appear.

Step into the portal and take down all the enemies inside. Once you’ve cleared out the smaller foes, a boss will appear. This will be your final challenge for the quest. After you defeat the boss, grab the Blood Relic and let Bryona know how you’re doing. The boss you’ll face is called Agony.

Their main attack sends out fiery blasts that shoot fireballs in all directions, and standing in these flames will also poison you, so be careful where you step! When Agony’s health drops to about 25%, they’ll disappear for a bit. During this time, you’ll need to deal with some extra enemies before the boss shows up again.  It’s just a regular demon, nothing too tough. Head back to her, and after a quick chat, you’ll have completed the Bearing the Weight of Ghosts main quest.
