In this prequel chapter, you’ll come across three cipher machines, each tied to a different part of the main story. While the objectives aren’t overly complex, they do require some puzzle-solving and backtracking. Here’s a player-friendly rundown of where to find Corroded Cipher Machine in Lies of P Overture DLC.
Cipher 2: Corroded Cipher Machine
Step 1: Defeat the Bulldozer
Your main goal is to obtain the Corroded Cipher Machine, and to do that, you’ll need to face off against a powerful elite enemy known as the Bulldozer.
Once you’ve defeated it, the Corroded Cipher Machine will be yours.
Step 2: Visit the Tracker at Eventide Hotel
With the cipher in your inventory, head over to the Tracker located at the Eventide Hotel. Speak with him and ask him to decode the Corroded Cipher Machine.
After decoding, he’ll reveal the next location you need to check out — the Ancient Ruin Excavation Site.
Step 3: Explore the Excavation Site
Travel to the Ancient Ruin Excavation Site to continue the quest. Upon arrival, take the path that slopes down to your left.
As you move forward, you’ll notice a ladder, climb down to reach the lower level.
Step 4: Investigate the Area
Once you’re on the ground, go left. You’ll soon come across a damaged robot lying near the rocks.
Just next to it, there’s a fragile-looking section of the wall that clearly stands out from the rest.
Equip and use any explosive in your inventory to break open the weak wall. This will reveal a hidden chamber behind it.
Step 5: Find the Misfit’s Diary
Carefully explore this newly unlocked space. Inside, examine the skeleton that’s resting in the cave, it’s holding the Misfit’s Diary, which is your key item.
With the diary in hand, fast travel or make your way back to the Tracker at Eventide Hotel.
Hand over the Misfit’s Diary to complete the quest. As a reward for your effort, you’ll receive a rare and valuable item: the Ancient Disk.
