The Age of Excuses is a side quest in Tainted Grail that starts with a strange man named Berach, who believes he’s been cursed. This quest takes you on a short journey through the Horns of the South, where you’ll meet a mysterious druid, craft a special potion, and help Berach deal with his troubles. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you complete it.
How to Start the Age Of Excuses Quest
To start the quest, head over to the Horns of the South region and look for Berach; he’s sitting under the bridge just above King’s Road. Once you talk to him, he’ll tell you about a strange curse he’s dealing with.
At first, the conversation options don’t matter much, but after a few lines, make sure to choose these specific replies:
- “If you’re so afraid, maybe you really should stay here.”
- “About the curse – Where did it come from?”
- “Can I help you in any way?”
- “No problem, I’ll return with an answer.”
These responses will set you on the right path. Your next stop is near the Horns of the South fortress, which you’ll find southwest of King’s Road. From there, travel south toward the Druidic Shrine by the beach. Keep following the shoreline west of the shrine until you come across a collapsed section of cliff. That’s where you’ll find Druid Drest resting.
Age Of Excuses Quest
Druid Drest will provide you a recipe for a “disgusting health potion” if you discuss the curse with him. You’ll need an Alchemy Table to craft it, and the ingredients are: five Sage, two Whiskey, and one Grindylow Claw.
Once you’ve brewed the potion, head back to Berach and talk to him again. At this point, you’ll get two choices: you can either give him the potion and perform the ritual, or tell him that there’s no curse at all.
If you choose to tell Berach there’s no curse, he’ll get furious and attack you. You’ll have to fight and kill him, which fails the quest. Instead, choose to perform the ritual using the potion. Berach will be grateful, and you’ll be rewarded with 300 EXP for completing the quest, an extra 150 EXP, and a Soulstone.
