Broken Strings is a haunting quest in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon which unravels the sad story of two sisters lost to time. This guide guides you through locating the Harpist’s Tomb, surviving supernatural encounters dependent on day and night, and completing the final wishes of the sisters in a story-blooming trip that is full of danger, mystery, and emotional depth.
Locating the Harpist’s Tomb
Begin your quest north of the Horns of the South. After a short travel, you’ll find a gate to the Cuanacht area. Pass through it, then ascend the rocky path to the north. Before long, you’ll encounter a strange tomb—this is where you are headed.
Daytime Encounter – The Left Path
The grave changes according to the hour of the day, so whatever you see will differ.
In daylight, the path to the left is accessible. Go along the corridor and go down the stairs.

- Origin Potion
Aine’s Story
Aine, a ghostly character who used to possess great musical skills, awaits you in the chamber.
She tells you she was betrayed by her sister and puts you to the test with two summoned spirits:
- Greed
- Pride
Defeat them to bring peace to Aine. Afterwards, she’ll request that you bury her remains along with her sister.
Nighttime Encounter – The Right Path
- Return to the tomb after 10 PM, during the Wyrd hours.
- This time, go right and descend to the lower chamber.
Meet Aideen
No treasure this time—only some flowers to collect.
Talk to Aideen, but she doesn’t trust you. She accuses you of lying about Aine and attacks by summoning:
- Envy
- Wrath
Tip: Collect Ethereal Cobwebs from the spirits’ corpses. You’ll need them later to build a campfire.
After the fight, Aideen reveals her loneliness and begs to be buried with Aine—somewhere far from this cursed place.
Final Step: Laying Them to Rest
To fulfill their wishes:
- Exit the tomb and head south, passing the lower city in Cuanacht.
- Look for a massive pink flowering tree—that’s your burial spot.
- Be cautious: a swarm of infected guards the path.
Face Sir Vaelin
- Near a tall statue by the tree, you’ll run into a hostile deserter named Sir Vaelin.
- He’s dangerous—use a shield or ranged attacks to handle him.
- Once defeated, collect his head as proof of your victory.
Completing the Quest
At the base of the flowering tree, bury the remains of both sisters. The quest wraps up here. While there’s no material reward, you’ll earn a substantial amount of experience points for your effort.
