The Invaders of Oakveil 1.1 update in V Rising introduces a brand-new area called the Oakveil Woodlands. Along with this fresh region, a bunch of new bosses have been added—including two new ones in Dunley Farmlands. In this guide, we’ll show you where to find Gaius the Cursed and how to take him down.
How to Beat Gaius the Cursed in V Rising 1.1
Similar to the racecourse, the colosseum in Dunley Farmlands was previously unoccupied in earlier patches. However, it now features Gaius the Cursed Champion, bringing a unique twist to the battle. The fight begins within a small, shrinking circle in the colosseum.
You must stay within this collapsing arena and defeat Gaius before space runs out, or you’ll die. Successfully defeating him unlocks the Arena Station and introduces a new weapon type-the Twinblades.
How the Fight Works
The battle takes place within a collapsing arena. Step outside the safe zone, and you’ll suffer heavy damage. Gaius wields Twinblades, striking with fast, aggressive combos. He fires back-to-back projectiles and can leap across the arena. Healing is significantly weakened due to an arena-wide debuff.
How to Defeat Gaius
You have two main approaches: fight him head-on or use the environment to your advantage.
Standard Strategy:
- Use high-mobility spells like Veil of Chaos or Merciless Charge.
- Stay close but alert—his attacks are rapid and punishing.
- Prioritize burst damage and bring defensive cooldowns.
- Avoid relying on healing, it’s greatly reduced here.
Alternative Strategy:
Use knockback abilities to force Gaius out of the shrinking safe zone and let the arena damage him:
- Blood Fount (Blood Tier 5): Delivers a knockback.
- Reaper Q Ability: Strong forward shove.
- Merciless Charge (Chaos travel skill): A dash that knocks enemies away.
- Mace Q: Heavy strike with knockback.
If timed well, you can repeatedly push him out of bounds and let the arena do the hard work for you.
Gaius the Cursed Location and Rewards in V Rising 1.1
Gaius can be found at the Colosseum located in the northeast of Dunley Farmlands. To summon him, interact with the flag at the site.
