Modryn Oreyn tells you to meet him at his house after dark to talk about the Blackwood Company, but you don’t have to wait until night. As long as he’s at home, you can go in and talk to him anytime.
Vitellus Donton, the son of Vilena Donton (the head of the Fighters Guild), died along with fourteen other men on a mission to retrieve the sword Sinweaver from Azani Blackheart. The contract came from a mage named Argoth. But before the Guild could finish the job, the Blackwood Company swooped in and claimed they had completed the mission. That boosted their reputation and made the Fighters Guild look bad.
Argoth was killed not long after, and the sword went missing. Modryn doesn’t buy the Blackwood Company’s story; he thinks they never actually killed Azani. Instead, he believes they cut a deal with him: gave him part of the reward money, and told him where to find Argoth so he could get his revenge and take back the sword.
Now Modryn wants to get to the bottom of it. He asks you to meet him at the Fighters Guild in Leyawiin so you can both head to Arpenia and figure out the truth.
Where to go in Arpenia for the Azani Blackheart Quest
For the Azani Blackheart quest, you don’t actually need to explore deep into Arpenia. All you have to do is reach a specific spot to trigger the next objective. It seems like this might be a bug. There’s a room where Oreyn is supposed to talk to you, but if he doesn’t walk around the trap and trigger it himself, the dialogue won’t start, and the quest won’t progress. To fix this, you’ll need to make sure he activates the trap, which should prompt the conversation and allow you to continue. Make him follow you so that he triggers the traps.
