How to Begin the Granite Mauled Side Quest
In order to begin the Granite Mauled quest, one has to talk to a dwarf named Doric stationed at a camp in the northeastern Fractured Plains. This is the initiation of the quest.
Granite Mauled Side Quest Objectives
The Granite Mauled quest has two primary objectives:
- Investigate the secrets hidden below Ashien’s Watch.
- Bring the blueprint back to Doric at Ashien’s Watch.
Both objectives are situated close to Doric’s camp, but long-range weapons, healing items, and other gear should be brought, since the first objective involves exploring a Vault filled with fierce guardians. Players must then pass through a goblin encampment filled with powerful enemies to reach the Vault.
Investigating the Secrets Below Ashien’s Watch
To accomplish the first objective, the Vault entrance near Ashien’s Watch must be found. To this effect, players should head to the marked location, walk down the sloped path, and cross the broken bridge. Players may find it useful to use Windstep to cross the gap. Once over the bridge, the players will have to fight various Garou enemies along with some elite enemies, which include a Garou Druid. Eliminate the Garou Druid first so that the subsequent engagements are manageable.
Once the enemies are dealt with, proceed to the Vault’s location. To enter, players must activate four Dragonkin Obelisks scattered across the nearby Garou encampment.
Locations of the Dragonkin Obelisks:
- Obelisk 1: Near the Vault, close to a broken wall.
- Obelisk 2: South of the first, located on the first floor of a dilapidated building.
- Obelisk 3: To the left of the second, in a nearby area.
- Obelisk 4: Near the third obelisk.
After lighting all four obelisks, you will get a message saying that the seal has broken. Return to the Vault, enter it, and go to the locked room on the right, where the quest objective is located.
The Vault requires a lever to be pulled to the left of the locked door. Players will find spike plants that can be damaged with long-range attacks. The Vault also serves as the arena for two great bosses – the Vault Overlord and the Vault Archon. The Vault Overlord can be shot with a bow from far away on a crumbling bridge, while the Vault Archon should be taken face-to-face in the room.
After both of the bosses have been taken down, make your way to the blue light at the Dragonkin Obelisk located near the Vault Core, interact with it to finish your investigative tasks, and grab all items which include the Vault Core and all the chest contents.
