Fractured Plains Vault Guide

To get to the vault entrance in the Fractured Wilds, climb up the mountainside using the Windstep spell. At the top, you’ll need to defeat any enemies and clear the rocks blocking your way.

As you approach the cave entrance, proceed with caution. Puffer plants are hidden on both sides of the narrow path they explode when you get too close. Angle your camera carefully and attack the plants from a distance to trigger their explosions safely. Once both are destroyed, you’re clear to enter the vault.

First Room

Inside, you’ll first step into a square-shaped room. A hallway from here leads to a second room that’s shaped a bit irregularly. This room contains three enemies:

  • Two Hulks
  • One Sentinel

The safest approach is to lure them back to the first room and fight them one at a time. Watch your stamina, dodge their attacks, and look for safe windows to counterattack. If you end up pulling both a Hulk and the Sentinel together, try to focus on taking out the Sentinel first. Since you’re close to the vault entrance, you can exit. Leaving resets the enemies and restores their full health.

To the right of the combat room, you’ll find a chest, along with some Sandstone and Rune Essence nodes you can mine. Moving forward, you’ll face several traps, but they’re not dangerous. After passing the floor trap ahead, check the small alcove nearby there you’ll find a Dragonkin Effigy. Interact with it to learn the recipe for the Paladin’s Platebody.

Second Room

Go upstairs and watch out for more plate traps. The path soon splits:

  • Straight ahead: There’s a low barrier you can crouch under.
  • To the left: A large room with enemies on two levels.

Take the left path to find another Dragonkin Effigy at the back. Interacting with it unlocks the Paladin’s Helm recipe. There’s also a chest in this room. Continue upstairs to find a second chest and a Vault Core.

After that, head through the next door to reach a T-shaped intersection:

  • Right: A Tin node
  • Left: A wall trap and the path forward

But before continuing, turn around behind you and to the right is a hidden chest. Continue on to a large room with multiple platforms to jump across. On these platforms, you’ll spot two Sentinels. On the ground level, there are rats, plus rune essence and copper nodes.

Jump from platform to platform, aiming for the right side of the room. There, you’ll find a third Dragonkin Effigy, but beware a floor trap sits right in front of it. You can still safely stand and interact with the effigy to learn the Paladin Platelegs recipe.

Final Room

The final room contains a tough group of enemies:

  • 1 Aurchon
  • 1 Sentinel
  • 3 Hulks
  • 1 Rat

Fighting them all head-on is risky. Instead, lure them back into the previous room with platforms. Use Windstep to jump up to the third level where you found the second Vault Core. From this vantage point, you can safely shoot down at enemies.

Repeat the process until all enemies are defeated.

After clearing the room, search the area for loot. You’ll find:

  • A third Vault Core
  • A chest
  • A final Dragonkin Effigy

Interact with this last effigy to unlock the recipe for the Wild Scout’s Shortbow.

Head to the Fractured Plains region look for trees with noticeably wider trunks than Ash Trees. Keep chopping them down to gather as much Oak logs as you can and stock up your inventory.

How to Get the Vault Shards

Vault Shards are a rare and valuable resource, and you’ll only find them inside Vaults. They’re crucial for crafting things like the Furnace and other important items. You can get Vault Shards in two ways: by opening chests inside the Vaults or by defeating Vault Sentinels, the tough enemies that guard them. There are six Vaults spread throughout the DragonWilds, one in each major area

How to Get the Iron Bars

Iron Ore is gathered by mining Iron Deposits, and once you have three, you can smelt them into an Iron Bar using a Furnace. To start, make your way to the Stormtouched Highlands. The Iron Ore there resembles copper but has a slightly darker tint, so stay alert while you’re searching. To get started, you’ll need access to both a furnace and an anvil. When you’re ready, interact with the furnace, place the required ingredients into the input slots, and hit the smelt button. If everything is in place, you’ll successfully create Iron Bars.

How to Get Wool Thread

To make wool thread, you’ll need fleece and soft animal fur. Just pop them into a spinning wheel to get started. Three pieces of soft animal fur will give you two wool threads, while one fleece makes one thread. You can find fleece and soft animal fur by hunting creatures in the Fractured Plains and Stormtouched Highlands. Sheep and rams drop fleece, while wolves drop soft animal fur. These creatures show up pretty often in both areas.

How to Get Antler

You can get antlers by hunting deer, but they’re tricky to track. Deer have a keen sense of awareness and will bolt if they notice you, which happens quickly. Bramblemead Valley is a good place to find them, and the Temple Woods are also worth exploring. Use a bow for the hunt.

When sneaking up, be sure to crouch and move slowly, as deer can detect you from a distance. Once you’re close enough, aim your bow and hold the fire button to unleash a heavy attack. A single well-aimed arrow should do the trick to take down a deer.

How to Get Jade

Jade is a gemstone you can get by mining iron deposits just make sure you’ve unlocked the Gem Prospector perk at level 16 Mining. You’ll only find Iron in the Stormtouched Highlands, especially in the northwestern region where the ore nodes are scattered across the hills and mountain edges. To boost your chances of finding Jade, use the Rocksplosion Spell on every Iron Ore Node you come across.

How to Get Swamp Thread

To make Swamp Thread in RuneScape: Dragonwilds, start by gathering Swamp Weed. It’s tiny and blends into the dark, murky environment, so keep a sharp eye out while exploring the Bloodblight Swamp it’s easy to miss. Once you’ve collected enough, head to a Spinning Wheel. Just place the Swamp Weed into the wheel, and it’ll spin into Swamp Thread.

How to Get Blightwood

You can find Blightwood near the entrance to Bloodblight Swamp, located on the right side of Bramblemead Valley. It’s a good idea to place a Lodestone just outside the swamp’s entrance, this keeps you within the safer area of the Fractured Plains, avoiding the more dangerous conditions inside the swamp. Blightwood Roots tend to spawn right around this entry point. Once you’ve set up your fast travel, your next step should be crafting a better axe specifically, the Bronze Axe.

How to Get Dwellberries

Dwellberries are a type of food you can gather from dwellberry bushes in the Fractured Plains. They offer a small amount of sustenance (20). Each unit of dwellberries weighs 0.1 kg.
