Where to Find Sapphire in Runescape Dragonwilds

If you’re in the Dragonwilds and trying to craft some of the game’s more powerful gear like the Staff of Light you’re going to need Sapphire. This rare gem doesn’t spawn on its own, and it only drops under very specific conditions. In this guide, we’ll break down exactly where to find Sapphire, how to improve your chances of getting it, and what gear you’ll need to survive the dangerous journey into Bloodlight Swamp.

Where to Find Sapphire

Sapphires are a secondary resource that you can get from mining Gold Deposits in the Bloodblight Swamp, but only after you’ve unlocked the Gem Prospector ability at Mining level 16. You can collect them manually with the right pickaxe, or they might drop when you use the Rocksplosion spell.

You can’t mine Sapphire directly instead, it has a small chance to drop while mining Gold Ore. It’s not guaranteed, and many players say they’ve had to mine hundreds of gold nodes just to get one Sapphire. To speed things up, try using the Rocksplosion spell to hit multiple nodes at once, and cast Detect Ore to find gold veins faster.

Leveling up your Mining skill also helps, as it lets you mine quicker and cover more ground. For the best results, farm in areas like the Fractured Plains, Bloodlight Swamps or Stormtouched Highlands, where gold nodes are more common. These tips won’t increase the drop rate itself, but they’ll help you get through more rocks in less time, giving you better odds overall.

How to Survive in Bloodlight Swamps

Before we jump in, make sure you’re prepped. Here’s what to bring:

  • Mushroom Clay Vessel: You’ll need this to brew a Weak Anti-Poison Potion.
  • Weak Anti-Poison Potion: This is essential. You’re heading into Bloodlight Swamp, and that place is toxic. The potion helps you survive long enough to mine without getting wrecked by the swamp’s poison effects.
  • At Least an Iron Pickaxe: You’ll need this tier or better to mine the Gold Ore Nodes, which is where sapphires can randomly drop.

Crafting the Iron Pickaxe

Here’s the recipe:

  • 4x Blightwood – Harvested from root clusters in corrupted forest zones.
  • 2x Hard Leather – Made at the tannery using Adhesive + Leather and a Tanner’s Kit.
  • Iron Bars – Smelted from Iron Ore.

Once you’ve got all that, head over to the Pickaxe Crafting Bench, and you’re good to go.
